Letter to Ownership Group

Location and clean sheets on bed only

Over the past several years this annual booking has been a family tradition aligned with intergenerational expectations, valued experiences and standards reflective of a long history of our military service. That said, it's with reluctant but duty-bond conviction that I have to report our usually joyous start of this annual booking was riddled with substandard service and presentation of this property. To start, the cleaning of property had not been completed prior to our arrival at 4:05 pm on 9/21/26. Fifteen minutes later, we noted that the trash cans were overflowing with trash. Upon entering the property we immediately noted that the door code doesn't work because the lock’s battery is dead, hence the cleaning person was the only one who gave us access to the property. In short, we took possession of the property's master key, which is a long-term security risk. In addition, there was an overwhelming musty smell and numerous stains on the carpet in numerous locations, which is counter to our effort to ensure that we leave no stains in the carpet after our bookings. Furthermore, the oven was so dirty with food and oil that when we attempted to use it, smoke filled the entire upper floor of the property which required us to open all of the doors and windows to let smoke out of the house. We had to purchase and use ovencleaner to use the appliance. Next, it should be noted that several kitchen drawer sliders were binding and difficult to open, with the most difficult one being the drawer next to the refrigerator. Lastly, we noted a splash stain on the wood panel wall leading into the pantry. In light of the aforementioned, our family implored Silva management group (subsequently fired by the ownership) to rededicate the company’s commitment to excellence as it relates to this region of the country.

Beach access was a bit difficult. Of the two bridges across the river the one to the south, although not in good repair, was the easiest and quickest to access. We did have almost private use of the beach. The house was very clean, but did lack some supplies that would have made the stay more enjoyable.

Late notice for occupancy. We were ready to check in at 4:00 pm but were notified at about that time that there was a two hour delay. Do know that it wasn't the fault of the host but there was no power at the house until after 8:00 P.M. There were only one paper towel rolls available, and not many bath towels for 10 people(had to do wash) The access to the downstairs door to the outside was very difficult(access knob needs replacing ,my evaluation). Storage area(next to kitchen) was very chaotic.

Not worth the cost

The house has beautiful views, a large deck and is very spacious.

Microwave didn't work, toaster worked sporadically, grill didn't work. There were a lot of burned out light bulbs and some outlets didn't work. Spotty wifi.

Great location. Easy to get to the beach.

We thought the rate was very reasonable. Then I saw the charge on my card! A $195 cleaning charge, a tourism charge per night, and 38.9% associated fees/taxes and services charges practically doubled the nightly rate! Make sure you read the fine print!!!
