Porter’s is absolute perfection in every way. Stylish and well maintained hotel, the rooms are massive with beautiful outdoor tropical garden bathrooms. A very short scooter ride to the main road that has all the best bars and restaurants.

It is all amazing ….. just a shame they don’t use the stunning yoga space and provide classes in the low season.

Very tranquil location, unfortunately building sites all around but that’s to be expected and did not retract from the experience. Tasteful interior and architectural design very well executed to very high standards with fantastic staff.

The building sites around but that’s no fault of the hotel. It will be completed soon enough and would not let it stop from booking.

There’s a few things which warrant the poor rating and I believe one should know before booking to stay here. Firstly, although this is advertised as a ‘surf and yoga retreat’ there is no surfing close by and there are only 2 yoga class options a day (9am and 5pm) which are far from ideal times when you’re only visiting for a few days and would like to make the most of your visit. Secondly, the state surrounding the hotel at the moment is a construction site. Having travelled so far and chosen this hotel for the relaxing vibe it described, it was more than disappointing to get there and only hear the noise of construction. We did a yoga class at both time options and the tutors had to raise their voices to be heard over the noise. Whilst I’m aware the hotel itself cannot control this, a heads up would have been appreciated for us to have the option to reconsider. With regards to the “spa packages” which I booked ahead of our visit as something to look forward to - one main detail that was omitted from all marketing is that there is actually no spa at all and there is only 1 therapist on site. When we arrived, I was told that the massage for 2 that I had booked online and that was accepted, would have to be done individually, one after the other. To add insult to injury, when it was time for our massage and we were wondering where to find the spa, we saw the therapist heading to our room with a massage chair. This was never mentioned and was the most bizarre thing I’ve ever experienced. Not only did we have to wait for eachother, but for that hour, we weren’t even able to enter our room and had to hang around elsewhere. With regards to insects, having mosquitoes enter the room is inevitable when the bathroom is an outdoor one. When I asked for aerosol insect repellent to be sprayed, I was handed body mosquito repellent and told that’s all they had. Again, this was incredibly bizarre and disappointing to hear from such an expensive hotel.
