About this house rental

Located in Brockville, this attractive house for $267 per night is a great choice for your next break. NOTE: You must agree to all terms listed in the GRG link in the House Rules section below BEFORE booking. Some guests have not done so and upon arriving were surprised to know they needed to bring their own bed linens, towels, etc. I can provide such items for a nominal fee but it's best you bring them yourself. If desired, please visit my Cottages in Canada dot com site (navigate to Brockville page as I can't give URL here) for more info. Welcome and thanks for visiting my page! The river is a walk of less than 4 min south. Just over a staggering 2000 sq ft (this does not include the basement which is off limits), the VV is ideal for large groups. It is also a great choice for your vacation destination. This townhouse has all the coziness of a cottage with friendly neighbours ... one of which is MYSELF! ;o) How many STR properties can claim that? Situated in the heart of Brockville's historical district, you will be immersed in the architectural splendour of the 1800s! Leave your car in the driveway as you walk to all the amazing amenities this world-renowned Thousand Islands city has to offer. Your visit will begin with a smile as you read the metal plate on the front door. No, I won't tell you what it says as it's more fun to find that out when you get here! Once inside you will bask in the majesty of 19th century England with soaring 11ft ceilings and regal features. Many rooms have chandeliers and exquisite woodworking with ginger breading, rosettes, wainscotting etc being evident throughout. Built in 1884 (ie horse-drawn wagons brought the lumber, iron and stone used to build it!), this is a house Charles Dickens himself would have been proud to call home! Most of the furniture is period accurate and reflect the stylings seen on YouTube channels like "This House". Don't be fooled though! You will get the best of both worlds as you enjoy the wi-fi and 55" TV (with 7.1 surround sound stereo) along with other modern conveniences like a fully equipped kitchen. Grab the baskets from the front coat closet and take them across the street for a picnic in the park! Even if you don't, the east side of the house looks out onto that space's beautiful trees with the sun shining through them in the mornings. Sit in peace on the balcony amid the front yard trees with sour cherry-laden branches or relax on the wood deck. Even if you don't stay at the VV, please consider us for your next visit and enjoy your stay in the Thousand Islands area!

We had a great stay at the Victorian villa. Dave the owner was very friendly, gave us a tour and the low down of the intricacies of a 140 year old house. The character and charm of the house was amazing. We comfortably slept 8 people and appreciated having access to four bathrooms. We had to be strategic with only having one shower, but it worked out fine. Only issue I would warn people of is that it is an old house and even though it’s is clean and well cared for, dust/mould allergy sufferers will likely want to bring allergy meds. Parking was provided and it’s closely located to the city centre. If I ever find myself in Brockville again, I would happily stay here.

June and I spent most of our time in the area sight seeing and touring the 1000 islands. And the local 1000 islands brewery. The house was the prefect location and a great place to come home to. I’m sure Dave will invest in a new toaster as the one in the kitchen only toasted in one side. That was the only thing that I can fault, and that said if I had mentioned it to Dave I’m sure he would’ve had a replacement there before the coffee was ready.

This property was so nice and elegant and huge. Made us feel like being back in time. I wish we had the outfit to match the set. The neighbourhood was great and quaint. We could walk to park, to downtown, the waterfront. It felt very safe and comfortable. We had to bring our bedsheets which was a bit of a downside but not a big deal. The kitchen could use proper glassware but I understand why it might not. The kitchenware/tools could be updated a bit. We love cooking and it was tough a bit but we managed. The owner was amazing. Very nice and accommodating. Kind, respectful and even spoke a bit of French to my sibling. That's what I call, going the extra mile. All and all, this is a beautiful property located in a quaint area. The inside and outside are immaculate and it's a bit of a dream house from the 1800s. Our whole family fell in love. We shared pics with our friends and they were quite envious. Highly recommended.

We had a great stay in place that was far better than the photos. The family enjoyed the home full of antique charm and lots of room to explore. Dave was welcoming, and hospitable from booking to departure. I highly recommend this vacation home!

Big charming home in a great location
Big charming home in a great location
We were a family group of 5 including my 86 year old Mom and family dog down for a family funeral on a weekend. There was enough space for all of us. We've lived in a lot of heritage properties and Dave's was a charming place with lots of interesting historical detail. It's not super renovated, but everything works and is comfortable. Dave has gone to some lengths to address concerns in an earlier review - new pillows, mattress covers, chairs etc. He lives right next door and was responsive to our requests. It was a hot weekend, and the fans provided made the place comfortable. The property is on 3 levels with steep stairs which was ok for us but may not work for everyone. Location is a quiet neighbourhood that's walkable to all of downtown Brockville and the river which was fantastic. Across the street from a park which was handy for the dog as well.
