Well equipped and cosy cottage with newly refurbished kitchen and bathroom. Loved the fireplace in the living room and decided to stay in and cook each night as felt very comfortable and spacious for two people. In a quiet village a short drive from Keswick but literally round the corner from a good pub with nice food and atmosphere. Would happily stay again.
Noise from the above property would transmit with surprising ease through to the bedroom so although the neighbours were in no way antisocial, we were occasionally disturbed by loud creaking footsteps from above in the night. Generally very clean but signs of dog hair on and around sofa which my wife was slightly allergic to requiring anti-histamine.

The cottage was well furnished, with a good range of appliances.
The rumpled and ceased sheet on the bed which had not been made well - quilt cover wasn’t even buttoned properly. I had to dish wash glasses, plates and cutlery before we used them as in some cases they looked as though they hadn’t been washed. Others looked like they had just been rubbed over. I get the feeling the owner doesn’t check the cleaner’s work before the next visitors arrive.
The fact that it took 3 days to get the hot water sorted out.
There were no instructions about any of the domestic appliances, where to dispose of domestic rubbish and recycling, where fire lighting items were kept. In over 40 years of renting holiday accommodation this is the first time we haven’t found a folder with house information
The only instruction received via the letting agents was the location of the key safe, which could have been much more specific. It would have saved us sitting outside the property for nearly an hour.
one of the owners was in the States, the other in their home - which is behind and above the cottage (there doesn’t appear to be any soundproofing or insulation between the cottage ceiling and the house floor. - grandchildren staying did a fair bit of running around!!) who claimed she didn’t hear the phone because there was a workman in the building. I found that surprising given the placed her phone in a pocket in the leg of her work trousers when she finally made contact. T
The bedroom lighting was such that a dressing table mirror had no direct light - luckily the bathroom had a very well lit mirror but the only way to use it for putting in makeup was to kneel with one leg on the loo!!

Overall this is a lovely property with plenty of promise. However, there are a few teething problems that need to be rectified.
Pros:
Great location for hiking
Lovely quiet area
Very comfortable bed
Room sizes good proportions
Light and airy property
No welcome pack provided;
had no idea what Wi-Fi code was
didn’t know what to do with the bins as we left (no bins outside provided)
no idea how to use the underfloor heating as no instructions for the heating or boiler
No microwave (advertised on booking and sykes as having one)
Key safe doesn’t seem to work – you can just open it with any code
Only one set of curtains in the bedroom – need a second set for privacy and for sleeping (especially in summer)
Coffee machine provided but it leaks
No key to unlock the lounge window when it’s too hot
Water boiler an eco-one so water doesn’t get as hot as you need it to have a decent bath – Luke warm
Shower also eco which again means water isn’t as hot as you want it to be – had to have a very quick shower indeed!

Beautiful, cosy accommodation which contains everything you could need in an amazing location. The village is lovely and has a pub around the corner. Great location for access to the fells and Keswick.
Sadly there was no hot water - just warm water so I couldn't really have a bath. The owner tried to fix it but couldn't. There is a shower but it doesnt have much power.
This was the only negative.
