Blue Bayou is a spacious, almost 2,000 square-foot two bedroom, two bath + loft vacation home, that is the left half of a duplex property, located mid-island on Fort Myers Beach. Enjoy the peaceful lake in your backyard, surrounded by lush landscaping, palm trees, and tropical flowers, while being just a block away from one of the most beautiful beach accesses on the island. Wake up and enjoy coffee and sunrise from the covered balcony/patio overlooking the lake, and watch the pelicans, roseate spoonbills, osprey, and other wildlife soar. In the evening, grab the provided beach chairs and walk down the block to enjoy happy hour with your toes in the sand, the spectacular sunsets of the Gulf coast, and listen for the locals blowing conch shells. Blue Bayou is on a quiet, mid-island street, giving you easy access to Bonita Springs to the south, and Margaritaville, Times Square, and Fort Myers to the north. It’s less than a mile from a Publix supermarket, two restaurants/bars, a marina, fishing, and CVS, and just a quick bike or car ride to dozens of other bars, restaurants, ice cream, watersports, coffee/breakfast options, two weekly Farmers markets, and so much more. Beach bike, moped, and golf cart rentals are also available on the island Blue Bayou is the perfect vacation rental for couples, families, or group getaways. This spacious two-bedroom, two full bath lakeside retreat is one half of a duplex property (left side) with almost 2,000 square-feet of living space, plus lots of outdoor spaces and an outdoor hose and shower. It comfortably sleeps eight, and has all the amenities and conveniences you need for a great stay. Enjoy the laughs and memories you’ll make hanging out on the magnificent lawn and playing bocce or cornhole (provided), or fire up the charcoal grill for hotdogs, hamburgers, and smores on the covered patio. Inside, the spacious living room and dining room has seating for everyone, and a pull-out sofa that turns into a queen-size sleeper for extra sleeping space. There’s a full Xfinity entertainment package with blazing fast Internet and WIFI so you can watch favorite shows or movies on the 55-inch flat screen TV (or a smaller screen in the loft with Chromecast for streaming/gaming). The open floor plan means everyone can socialize from the kitchen/bar counter, dining room, living room, loft or patio, and the whole gang can enjoy meals at the family-style dining table that opens to the patio for additional seating and al fresco dining. There’s lots of natural light in the ensuite primary bedroom featuring a king-size bed and its own bathroom with walk-in shower and a Smart TV for steaming. A comfortable queen-size bed outfits the second spacious bedroom. The second full bath features a combination tub and shower. The upstairs loft has two couches for plenty of seating, as well as a full-size futon, and can double as an open bedroom, office, or place for the kids to stream entertainment and play games on a second TV. You’ll also find ceiling fans throughout to offer a nice breeze on warm Florida days and nights. There is ample covered parking for multiple cars. Fresh linens and fluffy towels are provided, and a full-size washer and dryer means you can pack light. Beach chairs and umbrellas are also provided, as are plenty of games, puzzles, and books, and there’s an outside storage area where you can leave wet and sandy towels and flip flops. This home is less than a 2-minute walk to the beach at the Lanark beach access. Estero Beach Boulevard is also just a block away for an abundance of activities! It will also be easy for grabbing a quick bite because popular eateries like Fresh Catch and Junkanoo are only a mile away. A Publix supermarket and a CVS are also conveniently located within a mile for your shopping needs. We had a very nice stay in this rental after we got past a couple hurdles … I stayed there with my adult daughter and my 2 young granddaughters. The lake was great and walking out into the back by the lake definitely gave us the “ bayou feeling” and the gorgeous white sand beach is just a very short walk away!! Our only complaint is that when we arrived at the property, the storage building that housed all of the beach equipment was locked and we had no access to it. Which was a very big deal for us because our main draw to this property was the close proximity to the beach and all of the beach equipment… we lost almost 2 days at the beach waiting for the storage to get unlocked. What we had planned was a BEACH VACATION… we all 4 love the beach and our intention was to spend the biggest part of EVERY day at a different beach in the area… My granddaughters are ages 3 & 7 so umbrellas, sand toys, ice chest, etc are conveniences that we required to go to the beach and stay for longer than 30 minutes… so the fact that we didn’t have those things until LATE in our 2nd day was very upsetting! Also there was only one very small trash can (in the master bathroom) in the whole house! And no broom/mop! After requesting these from the host, they did bring us a kitchen trash can and broom (no mop) mid morning on the 2nd day so I was happy with their response time on that request. The beds were very hard… some people prefer HARD beds and they will love these beds… After the storage building was unlocked, the rest of our stay at this rental was great! We felt very comfortable and “at home” there! We did get to “meet” the alligator that lives in the lake and loved watching the soft shelled turtles! Also, the first day that we arrived there were 2 pretty big iguanas resting out by the lake… we managed to get some pictures of them and good thing because we never seen them again after the first day!! I would definitely recommend this rental property for families or even adult couples… hopefully we will be able to book this property again in the future!
