Stepping into the Sunset Escape, you're greeted by an atmosphere that commands relaxation and rejuvenation, with the great room serving as the heart of your holiday celebrations. The loft, accessible by ladder (with supervision recommended), offers a unique vantage point to observe the changing leaves or the gentle snowfall, transforming into a magical lookout for children and the young at heart. Decorated in a clean, marine style with a seasonal twist, the space feels open, airy, and ready to welcome the fall and winter festivities. French doors open onto the large deck, where you can bask in the soft autumn sun or breathe in the crisp winter air, sheltered by a portion of the deck that allows for outdoor enjoyment regardless of the weather. The surrounding yard, a playground for games and laughter, becomes a wonderland when the leaves or snow begin to fall. And then there's the hot tub, a sanctuary of warmth and relaxation, perfect after a day of seasonal adventures or simply as a place to let the stress of the world dissolve away. Whether you're admiring the fall foliage or the silent, crisp landscape, the views from every room—and especially from the hot tub under the covered deck—are a constant invitation to indulge in the beauty of the seasons. The home's layout is thoughtfully designed with accessibility in mind, mostly on one level with only the loft perched above. Privacy is paramount; despite having neighbors, the front yard, deck, and hot tub area are secluded, offering you a personal enclave. The two spacious bedrooms are bastions of comfort, flanked by a bathroom with a large, light-filled walk-in shower. Here, at the Sunset Escape, every detail is curated to enhance your fall and winter experience, ensuring that your stay is not just a vacation, but a seasonal escape to be remembered. A short walk or drive and you can enjoy a beautiful west facing, (think sunsets,) beach that has logs for sitting, sand for creating and endless views! The entire home and yard is reserved for our guests. We are at the end of a short cul-de-sac in a quiet neighborhood. Tranquility and peace are yours during your visit. There is a separate garage space at the end of the driveway which is not available at this time. As a professionally managed property you will receive top notch service and communication. Lummi Island is a special place - time seems to slow down when you cross from the mainland on the Whatcom Chief. Expect relaxation and rejuvenation. **Our ferry, the Whatcom Chief will be at dry dock from May 18th to June 15th, 2024. Dry dock is a special time of year for Islanders and guests alike. During dry dock the Whatcom Chief (our vehicle ferry) is taken out of service for maintenance and repairs. Whatcom County supplies a passenger only ferry while the Whatcom Chief is away. Typically there is a parking area on the mainland side and a regularly scheduled passenger shuttle on the island. Many Islanders leave one car on each side during this time though many of them use the shuttle, walk or get rides from willing Islanders. With far fewer cars traveling the island, there is more quiet and tranquility. The passenger only ferry gets us out of our cars on Gooseberry Point to enjoy the fresh air and scenery as we wait for the ferry. Once aboard the ferry we are able to sit on top and truly enjoy the short trip across Hale Passage. It is indeed a special time on the island. While we believe dry dock can be a wonderful time to truly get away from it all, we understand that these circumstances may not be for everyone. The North End of the island has a loop road that is open to vistas of the mainland, the Salish Sea, and the islands beyond. You can travel the loop by foot, bike or by car - take your time and enjoy every turn. There are a number of preserves on the island which offer short nature hikes, or a hike up the side of the mountain to reach a vista point that has amazing views to the south of the San Juan Islands - a must do! Lummi Island boasts the Beach Store Cafe, usually open Wednesday through Sunday, the Willows Inn which you must reserve in advance, and the Islander Store which is the hub of the island, a general store with a collection of artists items next door and the Saturday market from Memorial Day through Labor Day. There are also farm and flower stands around the island and you can usually buy fresh eggs along the roadside. Lummi Island is home to a variety of artists who are happy to open their studios, mostly by appointment. Check out our island guide prior to your arrival. A trip on the Whatcom Chief Ferry is required to get to the Sunset Escape. The ferry is operated by Whatcom County, and runs at least every hour between 6.40am and midnight on weekdays, a little less on weekends. Round trip fare is $14 for the vehicle and driver and $8 per passenger or for walk-ons. Fare is collected during the run to the island by the purser who will come to your vehicle to collect - credit or debit card only, no cash is accepted. Walk, bike or drive to the house from the ferry dock and 'downtown' Lummi Island. We are approximately 3.5 miles from this area of the island. 'Downtown Lummi Island' consists of The Islander - general store, coffee and pastries, wine, beer and alcohol. Also attached is Sisters Gallery which highlights Island Crafters and Artisans. The Island Library has books and movies, of course but also an island history section. The Island Post Office is a full service post office with limited hours, and the Beach Store Cafe has great pizza and specials every weekend. There are few services on the island so we suggest picking up groceries in Bellingham or Ferndale prior to coming out to the island. If you prefer to have your groceries or something special in the house upon your arrival. Guests may order concierge service as a separate amenity from this booking by going to Whatcom Concierge on the web. Other services and amenities are available as well, including during stay housekeeping, and a personal chef service! Once you book the Sunset Escape, we will send you all the information you need to plan and have a great stay. If you have any questions about the house or the area prior to booking please contact us, we will happily answer any questions you have. A Rental Agreement regarding the home is required to be signed by the guest on the booking before the cancellation period ends. The agreement will be sent to you through the booking platform upon booking. The home is not child-proofed - there are no covers on the outlets, or locks on cabinets containing cleaning products, etc. You are responsible for taking precautions to keep your children safe. The property is near a (quiet) road and is not fenced, please keep your children within sight distance. In respect of our neighbors we ask for quiet time between 10pm and 8am. Please note that noise travels easily and far around water. Our good neighbor policy is in the documents we send prior to your arrival. Read and adhere to them. Only guests listed on the booking are permitted at the home unless prior approval by PNW-Concierge (this includes both daytime and nighttime visitors.) Booking rates, fees and taxes are listed in USD. After carefully considering the risk involved, the guests hereby release, hold-harmless and waives all claims associated with the perils of staying at this home, which they may have against the property owners, their employees, officers, directors, and agents.

My extended family lives on Lummi Island and we came for a family reunion. We had a great time staying at the property. The views were incredible, the beds were super comfy and we made freshly picked blackberry smoothies every morning. It was an easy walk down to the beach and discovered a secret gnome hiking trail near the property. We would definitely stay here again.
