Great location, price was good for what you get.

Great location, close to everything needed but also out of the way and private. Well equipped kitchen and property has most things you would need for your stay. Easy quick communication when needed with owner.

Photos shown are old, outside seating area shown isn’t useable and inside of the property could do with a bit of a freshen up. The large shower head in the en-suite didn’t work so had to use the hand held small one next to it.

Major security, fire safety, and maintenance issues – forced to leave 6 nights early

The location in Todmorden is pleasant, but unfortunately, our experience inside the property completely ruined our holiday

We booked an 8 night stay for our family (including a 10 year old child). Within two hours of arrival, we identified severe safety, security, and hygiene issues that made the accommodation unsafe and untenable: Two sash windows could not be locked and could easily be opened from the outside, leaving the property unsecured for our family. The first floor bedroom window was jammed shut (restricting emergency escape). While lower landings had interlinked smoke alarms, the top floor sleeping area had only an unlinked, standalone unit. Furthermore, using basic kitchen appliances (microwave and toaster) repeatedly tripped the main electrical breaker. The living room furniture did not match the advertised listing photos. The bath was rusty, insects (silver fish and dead flies) were found on kitchen crockery, and overall cleanliness was poor. The shower did not work and the tray was mouldy. We reported issues immediately upon arrival. The host responded and said they would be at the property later - they did not arrive. No further communication for 48 hours and when they finally replied, they only addressed the crockery completely ignoring the window security hazards. Given the lack of resolution and safety risks, we were forced to vacate six nights early. While the host subsequently acknowledged several defects in writing, they refused to issue a refund for the unused nights. We have formally escalated the security and property issues and reported the fire safety concerns to the local fire brigade. We strongly advise families and future guests to exercise extreme caution before booking.
