Excellent location for sightseeing and walking around Sintra

Having to pre order breakfast at a pre arranged time

We loved the hotel's location and decor. We loved the happy hour wine reception at their sister hotel. We loved the breakfast on the veranda. We loved the bedding and showers. We felt fortunate to find street parking directly in front of the hotel.

Check-in was tricky, as we had no means or directions to contact the hotel staff to let them know that we had arrived. We also felt bad for the kitchen staff one morning when guests were getting frustrated and there were only two people working. But the only really hard part of the stay was that the air conditioning failed to work in the afternoons when the heat was its hottest, and the beautiful stonework of the hotel absorbed the heat and radiated it into the rooms at night. We asked for assistance, but the hotel staff's instructions did not make sense or work once we followed them. Instead, we came up with our own solution: open the windows after the sun moved to another facade of the building, and leave them open until morning. This enabled us to sleep soundly and comfortably. I think it would have been better if the hotel staff understood this methodology and could explain it to guests, or if they could execute this procedure for guests on hot days.

Breakfast was lovely and the AC worked great.

The pillows on the bed should be a down substitute. They were a little lumpy and just not top notch like your hotel

The rooms were very nice and big and they gave us free fruit and water, the pool was very nice

The bedding had crumbs in it and I noticed the door to the bathroom had fingerprints even before we entered the room. The partying situation was weird, had to walk between properties but it wasn’t a bad walk
