Holiday Home Baia is a beautiful house and it is very spacious and lovely. It is a straight walk into town and close to accessing the N125, yet it is in a quiet neighborhood. It is perfect for a large family gathering such as ours where we had plenty of space. The beds were comfortable, the linen was clean and the gardens were well kept. There are many patios and the rooftop patio has a lovely view. There are books to read and a DVD selection, though we did not use it. The key holder graciously allowed us to check in at 2:30 because one family was arriving with a baby.
Unfortunately, we were a little disappointed that there were so many things that were not in order in the house for our very short family reunion of 4 full days after 8 years. It meant that time and energy went into dealing with the house instead of enjoying time together.
1. The floors were filthy and I immediately swept and mopped but there was not enough floor cleaner.
2. There was a bag of garbage in the dustbin from the previous people that had not been removed.
3. There is no baby mattress for in the cot so we had to search for it when the baby arrived. We eventually found it in a moldy smelling storage room.
4. The swimming pool was filthy and that was a major selling point for us. It was clean on our last evening and was absolutely wonderful. We would’ve used it daily had it been clean when we got there.
5. We couldn’t BBQ because there was no gas. We were told to fill it ourselves.
6. There was no soap/ shampoo in the bathrooms.
7. There were a number dishes that we had to rewash.
8. The lid on the kettle was broken and wouldn’t close but it also wouldn’t stop boiling automatically because the switch was broken.
9. There were no coffee capsules that fitted the machine because it was outdated and none were supplied. Pervious people must bought various types that also didn’t work and we bought a range of capsules too. We later cut the capsules open to make coffee in a tea pot because we’d bought so many.
10. There was no laundry powder or dishwashing tablets for even one load.
11. There was a leak in the passage ceiling that dropped water through a light fitting. This could be hazardous.
For a long stay, most of the issues would have been ok, but for our short stay with a baby and child, it was inconvenient. Nonetheless, the house is beautiful and we enjoyed our stay.
From our side, we made a mistake by leaving the key in the wrong place upon departure and are sorry for the inconvenience we caused.
