We received a very warm welcome from Lynn. We had chosen the larger room and it was a good size. The warm radiator in the room and ensuite shower room in the evening and morning was a bonus. Breakfast - and coffee - was excellent, and served on the upper floor of the beautifully converted barn. Nothing seemed too much trouble for the hosts and Lynn gave us a great recommendation for dinner in Buxton (Santiago Tapas), as well as a pub nearby. All our questions were answered with a smile.
Although there is some narrow lane driving from the A515 up to the B&B in the hamlet of King Sterndale, it was no different to where we live in Kent.
It is the perfect B&B for doing beautiful hikes in the Peak District. It is in a very quiet location and we had two good nights' sleep. Thank you Lynn and Trevor, we are so glad we chose your place!

Everything. 10 minutes from Buxton. Comfortable ground floor bedroom with lovely bathroom. Great nights sleep. Probably the best full English breakfast we’ve ever had using local produce that was beautifully cooked and flavoursome served upstairs in a huge dining room with wooden beams. The property is Grade 11 listed and a credit to the owners who are wonderful hosts.

The room itself was pleasant and the host kindly prepared a basic packed breakfast when we explained that we needed to leave early. We booked for my birthday and with close proximity to the Peak District. However, there were several aspects of the stay that did not meet our expectations for the £120 room rate.
There was no locks of the door, no guest lounge, dining area or other communal space in which to relax, and the room did not include an additional chair or table. Both the online information and the booklet beside the bed stated that breakfast was available from 7/7.30 am, but on arrival we were told it would not be served until 8.00 am. Our request for an earlier breakfast was declined, although the packed breakfast was appreciated. There were also dust all over the kettle, mugs and spoons.
After checking out, I received a highly inappropriate and petty message from the host accusing me of removing drinks sachets and describing this as evidence of “poor character and selfishness”. I had taken a small number of the complimentary refreshments for use while travelling. I accept that the host may not have intended them to be taken away from the room, but this could have been addressed politely and professionally without making personal judgements. There was no ‘I hope you enjoyed your stay, thank you for leaving it as you found it or I hope you had a nice birthday’.
Unfortunately, the message we received after our stay significantly affected our overall impression of the hospitality. Really disappointed with Lynn.
