The location couldn't be better - right on Frenchmen St but super close to all the fun stuff on Decatur. The pool and hot tub were a good vibe, the bar was great and the rooftop was a relaxing place to hang out in the day. The staff were super accessible and responsive.
The room itself was stylish but very minimal, and aside from a closet there wasn't much room to put our stuff. We stayed there for four nights and had to basically live out of our suitcases, which was a bit frustrating. But we got used to it quickly. One of us had to work a few hours two of the days, and the little desk was definitely adequate for that.
After adjusting to the motel layout and bare bones room, we really grew to love the place. It was right in line with the weird and carefree feel of New Orleans, and i would definitely stay there again.

The hotel was so cute! The room was clean, it was great that we had a mini fridge as well! There was a closet with hangers and a suitcase stand which was very helpful since there was minimal counter space. The bathroom is a little tight so be aware that you might have to sit on the toilet at an angle... took a little getting used to but overall not bad! Complimentary fruit and water in the lobby was nice, the location was also perfect right at the end of the French Quarter so we could walk everywhere! Expect noise being so close to the nightlife.

We enjoyed our stay at the Frenchmen! A nice historical place in the French Quarter.

Great except no hot water for shower.

This is not the first time in this hotel. And we will come back again. The room was very small, but quiet, despite the festive atmosphere of Frenchmen street. The staff was very courteous. The Nola decor is what we were looking for. And I can't thin of a better location in the city: Frenchmen street is where the music lives..

Built in 1860, the hotel is very old and quaint. It was in a great area with everything within very close walking distance. The room was clean and bed very comfortable. You are not staying at a 5 star hotel with all the services but for us, it was great since we were never in our room anyway. If you are bothered by noise, don't get a room on the street. Our room was in the courtyard so the noise was not an issue. I would stay there again.

This hotel is gorgeous. Everything I wanted from a beautiful New Orleans building! I didn't go in but the pool was stunning. Air con and fridge in the room. Corner shops nearby for water etc. The location was perfect. Right next to the french market, street car stop and frenchmen street bazaar and pubs. The noise didn't keep us awake at all and we were directly above reception next to the stairs. The Tiki Tok was great next door too.
My one and only issue was that we were there for 5 nights with lots of luggage and there were no drawers or wardrobe for our clothes. We were in america for 17 nights and could have done with somewhere for our things. Instead of the quite usless desk under the TV, a huge set of drawers for storage would have been so much more helpful. Our room was large and could have handled lots more storage options. A full length mirror would have been nice too. Even if it was in the hall! All we had was some hangers on wall hooks. The bathroom was clean and very nice. The decor in the place was fantastic. I would return to this hotel in a heartbeat. Despite the lack of storage, as everything else was great. If you do have large cases, be aware there's no lift. BEAUTIFUL hotel.

I love that this was so close to all the fun but not exactly in the middle of the craziness. Nice little walk to the French market and Jackson square.

The pictures do not do this place justice! It is beyond adorable and eclectic! There’s a charming blend of modern and classic in the decor and art work. The beds are so soft with really good linens and pillows. The service staff is beyond amazing! They were able to check us in early which was great because we needed a nap. They have an amazing tiki bar with classic drinks and a rooftop patio. The location is perfect! It’s on the south end of Frenchman (live music) and a short walk to the main drag and Jackson Square. You really feel a part of the city!

The Frenchmen was PERFECT. The pillows were to die for- majorly comfortable bed that made me want to stay in all day if it weren’t for the NOLA life calling me out.
Perks:
Bed
Great A/C
Design and decor were perfection
Easy check-in & check-out
Great location- blocks from the quarter
Coffee- the lobby coffee in the morning was delish!
Minor Negatives:
Frenchmen St is LOUD at night. Cars parade by with subwoofers. I was in room 209 which was on the inner part above the pool. It wasn’t a problem for me but if you’re sensitive to noise, take note.
Water- the water temp in the room was only warm and hot. No cold water :(
Text Communication- a little overkill TBH
No microwave- NOLA food calls for leftovers. Wish they had a communal microwave at least.
Overall HIGHLY recommend. I’ll be a regular!

The ambiance is different. It is near everything. It's a very nice boutique hotel in the middle of all that is New Orleans. The hotel is a little bit older but that's what sets it apart from others.

The Frenchmen Hotel is a must for anyone keen on exploring the cultural scene in New Orleans, without any of the trashy chaos of Bourbon Street. We also found it extremely affordable for what you're getting out of it.
If you're looking for a spot at the edge of the French quarter, in walking distance to virtually everything, with all the jazz, blues, deep roots, and southern cuisine that Frenchmen Street has to offer, then this is the place for you. There's a gorgeous pool under an open sky available to patrons at all times, the staff are very attentive and kind, and the rooms are fun and clean. The only thing to be aware of (and they'll be the first to tell you via text message in advance of your stay), it is very loud right up until around 12am for most nights, and up to 3am on Friday and Saturday night. But if you're willing to plan around that rather than resist it, you'll be fine! You're on vacation in NOLA for goodness sakes! Live a little :)

We LOVED this place. After reading other reviews about noise and feeling scared to book beforehand, it’s NOT that loud. Once inside the room I never heard the guests next to me, and the street noise was very muffled unless something was happening right outside the room on the street. Had the old hotel feel to it with very tasteful styling for the room. Very large room, high ceilings, tall windows, nice private restroom, Also felt very safe with the security setup for keys for the hotel, have to have a key to enter the lobby off the street given to you after check in and separate keys for rooms. Also courtyard has a pool and Hot tub, and there is a chill bar area attached to one side of the hotel with a lower level and upper level for hanging out, bar closes at midnight, and access to the street for the bar closes down too. It was fun going to the bar after walking around before going back to the room. We had a balcony room with Frenchman street view, and you have to raise the big windows up and walk through them like a door to get to the balcony, very cool. I would book this place again and have already recommended it to a few people I know who visit there. Also asked several locals and even Uber drivers and everyone said Frenchman street is where it’s at for fun and music. I also personally parked my vehicle in a parking garage with security at 930 gravier and caught and Uber back to hotel after unloading and had no issues.

The property is beautiful. Just what you’d expect from a historic property in this area. The pool is beautiful. It’s easy to walk to Decatur and there are a ton of bars on the block. There is also a rooftop and bar at the hotel. Because of it, it had its moments where it was loud but it wasn’t too bad. Check in was super easy and staff was friendly.

We loved our stay at the Frenchmen Hotel! We were warned about noise but we didn’t find it to hinder our sleep (in some very comfortable beds)! The pool and attached tiki bar were amazing in the heat! All of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful!

Great place. For a small boutique hotel it was perfect for us. Great location and will definitely return. Thanks!

Everything was great under Mr. Collins (*front desk attendant) watch; however, the checkout process wasnt so friendly ( the checkout attendant was a bit rude, unfriendly and not helpful at all....Upon checkout, I'd asked her for a cup of ice, she grunted as if i was asking her to move the hotel a few feet. I do NOT care to cross her path in the future). Collin gets an A+ for service, friendliness and professionalism!!!

Check in attendant assisted me as I had arrived earlier than initial check in!
I appreciated this support after already traveling 6 hours to get to the hotel

Have stayed here many times, always like the charm… seems like new owners have added a club/bar to the property, so club music going till late, really hard to sleep if you go to bed before midnight…. Won’t return… hard to imagine justifying opening a club and hotel in the same building…. Pick one or let customers know there is a club in the hotel…. We had zero issues with the street noise….just the in-house club music.

The shared areas are beautiful. Our room was also beautiful, but quite dark and smelled very musty. Location is great.

Ok, this is such a great place to stay!!! The hotel feels authentically New Orleans and is redone to be very stylish and modern.
I read some reviews about the rooms being small/outdated/etc.
The rooms are small- but you didn’t come to NOLA to sit around in a luxuriously large hotel room! You should be walking the streets to explore all the food, art, people, and music!
The Frenchman area is amazing. Easily walkable to The French Quarter or Bywater area (less than 15 min. flat walk)
There is also live music right down the street and is a more local scene then the Quarter.
Also there is a pool to soak in and super cute roof top bar.
They hotel staff was amazing! Mini fridge is stocked with booze and snacks for regular mini bar prices.
There’s no drinking water in the minibar or to purchase on site so just make sure to stop by a market!
I loved this place. Will def be coming back

The property was in a great location! Walkable to both Jackson Sqaure & Marigny restaurants and bar. Has a rooftop sitting area and a tiki bar on the first floor. Some reviews state they have live music, but not any longer. The pool was a great reprieve from the walking/heat. Room was clean, cold, and spacious. Had a mini fridge to put our wine and take out leftovers. Only complaint is the bathroom door knob kept falling off the door, so made it difficult to close. The noise level was not an issue. You can hear it, but gets drowned out by the ac units. All else fails, they provide free ear plugs.

Great location. Can be noisy but not too bad during our stay. Only wish the A/C units weren’t so loud.

The aesthetic was beautiful along with the attached bar, pool, and the rooftop area. It was a little noisy from Frenchmen street but we knew that going in. The room was smaller than expected and the bathroom door didnt shut all the way. No room service unless you asked, which is fine, just dont expect above and beyond from staff. I'd stay again!

LOVE THE POOL, LOVE THE LOCATION, LOVE COLIN at the FRONT DESK, and Love the feel of it with the bar attached and the 100% feeling of being in NOLA!
It was perfect for JAZZ FEST as so easy to jump in UBER to Festival and nothing like hearing brass music from bed as that is what I want when I am in NOLA. Thank you, MEG

My partner and I stayed at the Frenchmen for 3 nights and absolutely loved it. We had the queen balcony room which I would really recommend. The balcony is large and you can sit out there and hear the music from Frenchman Street! The location of the hotel is perfect for exploring the French Quarter. The courtyard with the pool is beautiful and the bar next door just reopened, it had a fun vibe and great drinks. The staff of the Frenchmen were so kind and helpful from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. This hotel played a major part in making our first trip to New Orleans memorable and so much fun. We will certainly be back!

This was great for our stay. We love the funky unique historical elements. Staff were laid back amazing. Location was great in the thick of things which meant noisy as expected. We were prepared and it was fine. Thanks

Very cute spot, friendly staff. Nice to enjoy the hot tub (though the jets need to be fixed - they were aggressive!) Nice rooftop spot for lounging, too.
