I was in Ames, Iowa for a family emergency. I needed sleep and asked Sandy at check in if she could get me a quiet room. Boy, did she ever. I didn’t hear a peep on the third floor my entire stay.. Even with a ISU football game one weekend.
I ended up extending my stay twice and was seamlessly kept in the same room. The room was very clean and up-to-date. The breakfast was solid, rotating scrambled eggs, omelettes, sausages, bacon… and having waffles, granola bars, fruit… available all days.
There’s also an indoor swimming pool and jacuzzi that’s open all year round, a significant perk in this winter climate.
Ames is a college town with lots of hotel choices. Many are very nice and I would put this property among the very top options. It’s conveniently located near I-35 and Highway 30, a quick drive to the Iowa State campus and maybe more importantly, Hickory Park restaurant. If you’ve been to Ames, you know what I’m talking about. There is also a nice Mexican restaurant, an Olive Garden and a pancake house in the immediate vicinity. Many other stores and restaurants are five minutes away on Duff Avenue.
And did I mention they have fresh baked cookies in the lobby?
