In John 1:11–12, there is another word used to explain believe:
He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.
So receiving Jesus is another word used to describe believing. So believing and receiving interpret each other. You ask: What does it mean to receive? Believe. And what does it mean to believe? It means to receive him.
That point is worthless without the next one. I hope that you are not among the number who sling around religious jargon with no meaning. To say, “I received Jesus,” means nothing until you have answered the question: As what? As an unwelcome guest in your house whom you are going to poison? A person you had to let in because he wants to work on the furnace, and you stick him down there and don’t want to talk to him? There are all kinds of ways to receive Jesus that have zero effect on your eternity except to make it worse.
So the last point is: As what? Receive as what? And surely the answer to that question is: Receive him as what he is — not what you think he is or what somebody told you he is or what you would like him to be, but as what he is.

It’s a cheap place to stay compared to the rest of Nashville , that’s about the only good thing. The house keepers were nice. They seem like they’re doing a bunch of upgrades but unfortunately I don’t think that’ll fix much.

There was a cockroach in the room. The drapes holes were covered with duct tape. We were given a room with a queen sized bed instead of a king. When we were out on the town someone came into our room and stole our stuff. The management will not respond to our inquiries about it.

The hotel is in a process of getting updated but still was in pretty good condition for its history and age, Rooms were clean but small and the area was safe. Not much shopping nearby but next to a McDonald’s and a few other restaurants The pool was not open at the time which was too bad.

Farther from town than i thought. Was near a gas station, sonic, mc donalds, and burger king so that came in handy. Tried using pool but wasnt open. Did sit out in the space around pool that was pleasant. Currently being reshingled. Had a fridge and micro. Bathroom wasnt cleanest and towels looked pretty worn.

The room was DISGUSTING. Cigarette butts all over the floor, the pillows did not have covers on them, and I had to call and make sure they put new cases on them. The bathroom door wouldn’t close, and it had multiple big holes in the door like it was punched through. The room also smelled so strongly of cigarettes that when I came home from our trip, that our entire luggage smelled of smoke (we don’t smoke). The bed was super hard, it was like sleeping on rocks.

I wish there would have been somewhere else to stay . All places were booked . Sheets on bed was clean and no signs of bed bugs . We had are own blanket and pillows we used. Place needs alot of work . At one time it was a good place. Pictures of the hotel dont show how bad it was. We was in room 107

Room was beyond filthy. The floors were so disgusting; I wouldn’t even let my dog walk on them. The shower and the curtain had black mold. The toilet ran constantly and the bath faucet as well. I didn’t even want to set any personal items on the surfaces such as the bathroom sink, dresser or night stands. Nothing appeared to be wiped down.
Absolutely get what you pay for here.
I’ve stayed in many “cheap” motels over the years but this is the worst I’ve ever seen.

They are working on the outside appearance and did a minimum amount of work on the inside. Toilet didn’t flush properly and gave excuses for not refunding for a night we did not stay. The worst part of our Nashville trip.

Unfortunately there were not a lot of positives about this stay. The place is not an inn, it’s a very old motel. It looks like a pay by the hour establishment in a rough part of town. There was a man laying in the parking lot that someone said lived in the hotel.
Check in was easy and the staff person was nice.
The room was clean but had issues. Parts of the room were updated while other parts were outdated and in disrepair. There was a nice jacuzzi tub, but no cold water, only hot. It took forever to fill and then you had to wait for it to cool before it could be used. The bathroom was very dated. The room smelled of cigarettes and marijuana. Also several light fixtures didn’t even have bulbs. The mattress was not comfortable and sleeping on the floor would have been more pleasant.
It was a little scary and the room price did not reflect that it would be such a low budget experience. I was looking forward to a nice getaway with my husband and that just wasn’t the experience.
Their tagline was ‘where the stars stay’. That must have last been 30 years ago and they definitely wouldn’t stay there now. Very disappointed.

Decided to try the jacuzzi in the room, it didnt work, and hasnt for a while so paid extra for no reason, literally the only reason for the price jump was the jacuzzi. They made me stand outside in cold rain to check-in. Bugs galore in the room itself and RUDE service! Front desk called my room 5 times at 4am then maintenance woke us up at 9am to ask if we had a leak.... wont let me add picture but the couch had holes so did all curtains and black mold all windows

First room I was given was a smoking room that was gross. This was supposed to be a non-smoking room. So they got me a different room. But oh boy this hotel is not what the profile says. It may have used to be something special, but it is very run down and in tough shape. Lamp missing shade, multiple holes in the wall. Arm of the desk chair torn off. Mold and grime on bathroom floor behind toilet. Door security latch wouldn't lock. See photos for all this and more. I would suggest staying away.
Update... Photos won't load on this site. Probably for a reason

Don’t like being rushed to check out. Don’t come knocking on my door two hours before check out or right at check out. If my reservation has a check out date then don’t come asking me silly questions

The door to room was severely damaged which was concerning for our safety. The room was so gross with dirt and nasty stuff smeared on the walls and the beds were terrible and the box springs were disgusting. The parking was also terrible and not easy to get out of the parking lot. They didnt even have coffee in the morning, despite having a coffee maker in their lobby. Was so disappointing for the price.

I was so dissapointed, but I mean you get what you pay for. There was fresh blood on the sheets upon checkin in, celing light was hanging by a thread, ive used public bathrooms cleaner than our room. Holes in the walls, you name it. The staff is beyond rude. Checking in went just like this "what u need" checking in please " ID and pay card" total silence sign here and handed keys.

This was the worst experience ever. The place was dirty. The bed had dirty sheets on it. I went to the front desk to ask for new sheets and they told me they didn’t have any more and that I would have to wait until the morning to get new ones. We ended up leaving and driving home 5 hours in the middle of the night. They refuse to refund my money and we didn’t even stay there.

I asked for 15 minute grace period. On checkout so I can gather my things together and wait on my ride and I was told I had to leave the property as soon as 11 AM came around.

Didn’t get to stay. I got charged for the room and they had already rented my room to another guest. So I had to sleep in my car

Well it wasn't the property that I had a problem yet it was the room that I had checked into my reservations for spent $74 for the room the bathtub looked like that he had never been cleaned and months soap scum was about an inch thick in the bottom of the bathtub I took pictures of it showed the people at the office but yet they didn't try to offer me any money back didn't cut off me a room for another night couldn't take a shower there was no towels in the room there was no ice bucket no cups no ice bag and there was you soap still in the shower area the shower walls look like they did have been somebody threw mud on it that's how dark it was where it hadn't been cleaned in a long time I was very dissatisfied with the Drake hotel and yet they did nothing about the problem

I feel bad posting this but I feel compelled. The staff member that worked there the day I checked in was very kind and helpful. With that being said, the condition of this historic motel is shameful. I think an investor needs to come in and take over and restore it. It was just not well kept. Not taken care of. Room smelled like mold, lamp shade was broken, everything looked worn and old. Considering this motel is from the 1950’s and has had movie stars from the past stay there, music videos filmed there, etc., it should be treated with respect and preserved. It was also in a sketchy side of town. Being from another state, I only had online photos and descriptions to reference, so when I got there I was so disappointed to see it in such poor condition, and I didn’t feel safe there, either. I literally asked for a refund about 10 minutes after arriving. I couldn’t stay there. I left and stayed at another hotel. Again, the gentlemen working there was attentive, apologetic, and kind. I hope they can fix this piece of history in Nashville, Tennessee.

Staff was amazingly friendly and courteous. Quiet and peaceful nights.

I arrived for check in and noticed it is in a sketchy area. People walking around outside through the motel area back and forth. Also, we got our key cards and went to our room to get in and it would not open. The door started just constantly beeping obnoxiously. I called the front desk and eventually the lady came down there and said she couldn’t get it to work. She told us to just stay in that room EVEN THOUGH there was a blaring beeping noise from the door. We also would not be able to unlock it without her key to it. We said no, that we did not spend money to go through all this hassle. We ended up canceling after all of it was said and done because they wanted us to pay the same price for a lesser room, which makes absolutely no sense. We cancelled and STILL GOT CHARGED FOR A NIGHT WHEN WE DIDN’T STAY. We went to Best Western down the street and had a much better experience and the staff was super nice and helpful there.

Lynn is a great front desk person who was very helpful and polite.

The only major complaint I had was it was suppose to be a non-smoking room and when i first walked into it the lingering smell of marijuana about knocked me down. Iended up only being awake in the room for a couple hours and the rest of the time i was sleeping so it was bearable. Think next time I'll just pay a little more money for a little better quality.

Clean enough, but I didn’t feel safe the area.

Location is definitely an issue

The staff at the front desk was very friendly and helpful, but the room was quite disgusting frankly. There was mold by the shower head, the sheets and towels were all stained, and overall the room was very dingy.
If you’re not picky and looking for somewhere cheap to sleep in Nashville, this is your place. If you want clean sheets and a mold-free room, it is not.

Miss Lynn was great to work with. Property was clean and quiet during our stay.

The motel staff and the owner who is in his 90s (he's owned the motel since the 1970s) and who I had the pleasure of meeting were all great! They kindly opened the pool for me on one of the days, despite it being out of season. The motel itself has plenty of nostalgia as displayed in the lobby, and you can see a room where Elvis Presley stayed in the 1950s. The rooms though are quite tired (the bathroom in particular) and not overly clean. I also found my room had a stench of pollution (the motel is located in an industrial area) and that the AC was very hard to work. The location left much to be desired and didn't feel safe walking around at night. There was no obvious eatery or supermarket nearby, but there was a gas station with some basic foodstuffs about a 7 minute walk away. Despite the location there were two bus lines nearby with fast routes to both the downtown and the airport. The Greyhound bus terminal is located just a 5-minute drive away. I had a minor issue with my payment which caused problems later on with my Hotels.com rewards stamps - that Hotels.com took a couple weeks to resolve. I believe this was caused by the way the motel processed my payments - part in advance, part upon check-in. They should take full payments upon check-in to avoid this. Shame that there is no free coffee, especially given there's nowhere nearby to get a coffee. Hopefully they'll fix the coffee machine soon! Overall the Drake Inn met my expectations but I won't stay in the future!
