Upon arrival, there was no clear instructions on where to go to register. Once we figured it out, we had to go in the lobby and dial a phone. After several attempts, someone finally picked up and said they would be right out. The man was dressed in a raggedy tee shirt with stains on it. Checked us in and handed us the keys. He did not explain where the room was located, so we walked around the entire area trying to find our room. After several minutes the man came outside and pointed in the direction of where we needed to go. Once in the room, the main area was pretty clean and it was spacious. However, the ice bucket was dirty and the lid was stuck closed requiring us to wash and force the lid off. After cleaning the bucket, we went to get ice. However, the ice machine on our floor was not working. We checked all around the Inn and could not find a working machine. We called to the front desk to ask where we could get ice and we were informed that they did not have any ice available because too many people were taking it!?!?! Never heard such a response in my life. The last issue was there was mildew in shower and the shower curtain was not lined. In the morning when we went to check out, the main lobby area was locked and there was no instructions on how to check out or where to put keys. When we called the main number to find out what to do, no one Answered. Had to back to room and call “0” to find out how to leave. Also was supposed to be free breakfast. There was nothing

They use the heck out of carpet powder, but it does not cover up that stink. They simply need to replace the carpet and all drapes. The smell is permanent. Otherwise the stay was fine. Clean rooms, friendly staff, safe and quiet area, and the room layout itself was very nice.

Toilet not working properly... property is being used as a homeless shelter...

The room was missing a clock, there were 2 used towels in the bathroom, the sheet on one bed had a stain on it. You get what you don't pay for...

Problem with thermostat on the heat. Had to shut it off to not be roasted alive. Faucet in bathroom sink loose. Could use a little TLC. Went to breakfast, unfortunately most of the hot bins were empty.

his hotel was older but very clean and a ten for the value! Our check in took minutes, and we had parking directly outside our room! It was also the biggest motel room I have ever stayed in. Winter stay so no pool. Would stay here again for sure.

Our room was really nice! We were surprised with the size of, everything seemed new, kitchenette was very helpful. The man who ran the front desk was very friendly and welcoming. He even got up earlier than usual to have breakfast ready for us since we had to be up so early.

The room was clean and no surprises. The property does need updating and the breakfast could use a little more imagination.

I have been staying at the Hollow Inn regularly until I find permanent housing in the area. The accommodations are fine and the price is good. The place is a little dated but it's clean and comfortable and I will keep returning.

The room was in the main inn which was fine. I was arriving after 10 when desk closed and they were very accommodating. The room was worn but clean and had a small kitchenette with a fridge. Price was great for a one night stay. Would go there again since I was just passing through going to Burlington.

overall I enjoyed my stay. the rooms are spacious and clean. the refrigerator should be moved out of the closet, it's present placement restricts access to the closet rendering the closet all but unusable. the staff where friendly and helpful.

This is a nice and quiet Inn/ motel. We stayed here for two nights and were very pleased. Although the hotel is dated, it has a quaint charm to it. The rooms are pretty decent size as well. The outdoor pool is heated and the hot tub is a plus. Continental breakfast was good and the staff were extremely friendly. The room and bathroom were clean and tidy and parking right outside the room made it easy to unload and load all our bags. It's not a luxury hotel, but if you want comfort, this place is it.

Stayed here in January 2014 with a friend. We booked the room due to the hotel's low price and reasonable proximity to the big ski resorts. Free wi-fi was this hotel's main selling point for us, except, as it turned out, the wi-fi was too slow to stream a movie or even load regular web pages. These rooms are outdated - we knew that before we booked the hotel - but be prepared. The vent in our bathroom did not even work! It was a struggle to keep the room at a tolerable temperature, and we were kept awake at night because we were either freezing cold or sweating to death. Also, the door locks are bizarre, and when we went out the first night we didn't realize at the time that our door was not locking properly. We asked management for a new key, but the one they provided wasn't even the right key. Speaking of management, it was consistently a game of hide and seek to find the gentleman running the hotel. Not an AWFUL hotel, but avoid it unless price is your only concern.

The room smelt very musty when we arrived. It was very spacious, but the lighting made it very dingy and depressing when it got dark outside. The curtain rail was hanging off the wall and the whole place just needs a drastic update. The breakfast was very uninspiring. We saw very little of any staff, so I cannot rate the service. We saw no reason to leave a tip, anyway. We were glad to leave this one behind.

We stay there for 7 days at the Hollow Inn, Barre, VT (19 Jan - 26 Jan 2011) and we cannot complain about anything. Mr. Ken was very friendly. It was our first visit to Vermont and he made our stay there very comfortable. Room is very spacious and that made our stay more happy due to the fact that it was winter season. Winter cloths takes space !! Location of the Hollow Inn is very good, you can reach everything from there. We will stay again there for sure !
