Great location to Acadia NP. Liked that the room was clean and was a nice size with a microwave and fridge. The management was also very responsive when we found that our hair dryer was broken and it was replaced quickly. The beds were comfortable enough but creaked when you moved. The only complaint is the bad plumbing in the shower. The shower water temperature fluctuated between very hot and cold every 5-10 seconds so had to take a quick shower.

The bathroom is tiny, the shower stall is about 2ft by 2ft and the toilet area is also too narrow to use. I'm a big guy and using the bathroom was a very unpleasant experience.

I had read reviews before I stayed and one thing that I hadn’t seen mentioned is that there was no bolt or chain lock on the door, you need a key to open the door and then it locks behind you and that’s it. The size and configuration of the shower is such that it’s difficult to put legs under the water stream. You can hear every vehicle that is driving on or off Mount Desert Island pass by - so just depends on how sensitive you are to noise as to how much of an issue this will be.

They double booked us for our first night and didn't even realize we were coming until we got there late in the day. Had to find a last minute hotel for significantly more. Stayed the second night but they didn't even offer a discount for the inconvenience.

My husband and I spend 3 nights in Acadia Gateway Motel. Our cottage was nice. 2 small bedrooms with a living room and a small bathroom. Clean towels and linen. Very accommodating owners. In the morning coffee and donuts were served in the office. 20 min. drive to Bar Harbor. Some updating in the Living Rm. would be nice. There was a very unpleasant smell coming from the bathroom. So we kept a window open as soon as we would come from the park.

We stayed for three nights in a cottage room with a double bed. Definitely no-frills and the shower was pretty small, but it was very clean and we got clean towels every day. Would recommend for anyone visiting Acadia/Bar Harbor!

I like the little duo cabins, which gave a sense of privacy, and the auto-lock door gave a sense of safety. Walls are a bit thin, so you'll hear the neighbor's TV, but that's not so bad since there's only one neighbor in the unit. The room was clean and well kept. Overall it was a pleasant stay at a very reasonable price.

Not a bad budget option at all, only 20 minutes to bar harbor and 25 to the Acadia visitors center. Each unit is a tiny shack that is standalone or connected to others, has a full sized bed that is not the comfiest (and is a little crinkly from a plastic bed liner for sanitation) but was comfortable enough to sleep on, especially when tired after a day of hiking. It gets a little hot inside but cross breeze through the windows and an AC unit in the back window remedied that quickly. Cleaned daily and didn’t feel dirty though the cleaner smell wasn’t my favorite. The staff at reception when we checked in were wonderful and very kind, and safety wise we had no concerns. The doors automatically lock when closed so you don’t have to worry that you accidentally left it unlocked after leaving. Overall not somewhere I’d stay if I were planning to spend a ton of time in the hotel but really great and convenient if your goal is staying near Acadia and just using it as a home base for sleeping and keeping your stuff safe.

It was ok. The cottage was clean. There was a very prominent smell when we walked in. May have been the cleaning supplies they use I’m not sure. We kept windows open and that helped. It’s very basic small room and super small shower. They do clean and give new towels everyday which was nice. You park right in front of your cottage but if you get in late it was kinda tight to get a spot.

Good location, short drive to the park. Not a lot around, but it was a nice, big room at a fantastic price. Especially given the high season to visit Acadia.

There is some highway noise but is easily drowned out if you put the AC unit fan on. I wish there was a deadbolt in addition to the normal lock otherwise felt like it was in a decent enough area for safety. The cabin was clean and what I expected. A little small and a little outdated but it’s the pictures you see online. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Although the weather was poor during our stay, the customer service and friendliness was exceptional! Highly recommend as a clean, reasonably priced, and pleasant place to stay for a few days while visiting Acadia.

This roadside, clasic motel is everything you need for such an establishment. It is cozy, super clean, and the host is very friendly. The rooms are furnished with necessities- clean shower, comfortable bed, and a tv for those who need to decompress after a day of hiking at nearby Acadia. A coffeemaker was not available in our room (I only mention this because some people would find this an issue, but this is a motel), but coffee, tea, and donuts were provided in the lobby. The restaurant across the street (Acadia Lobster and BBQ) is excellent. Really, you cannot ask for more for such a price. Would absolutely come back again.

Cute little cabin, would have been nice to have had a small couch to sit on i lieu of the chairs at table. Glad there was a table though, as i had to set up computer to work. Was clean.

Excellent host. He was an amazing person. He takes the time to change flags to welcome you from your country. Great value. The gas station was across the street. Family run hotel.

Affordable place to stay when visiting Acadia NP. It's a bit of a drive from the park but less expensive than what we found in Bar Harbor. They don't include shampoo in the room, but provide it when asked. No frills stay, but affordable.

There was a picture window with a smaller window on either side that could be opened up for fresh air. There was also a window on the opposite wall that could be opened up. The motel is older, but upgraded. It was a little expensive for what you got. Also, it sits right on the main road into Mt. Desert Island and Bar Harbor, resulting quite a bit of traffic noise, especially early in the morning when all the workers are heading to work on the island.
