We enjoyed our stay at the hotel. Room was clean and inviting. Because it is a historic building, there is only one bathroom that services all guests on the second floor (you just need to be aware of that). Owner was a gracious host and we enjoyed visiting with her and other guests. Would definitely stay there again. It is a nice change from a standard hotel.

It's small, and inconvenient, but worth it to stay in a historic hotel the way people used to. The owner was there and helpful, and made very nice breakfast burritos.

The listing did not make it clear there was a shared bathroom. It is less of a hotel and more of a B&B. The only active business in silver plume is a cannabis dispenser right next door

Quaint hotel and rooms. Definitely showed it's age. Walls are thin so definitely made use of the fan to drown out the noisy neighbor. Odd setup for the bathroom but kind of expected for this old of a hotel.
Nice, quiet lil town.

If you want authentic mining town atmosphere with a true mining town hotel? This is the place to stay at. It's a back to the future setting. My wife and I loved the place. It was great to be part of the not so run-of-the-mill hotel.

Reminiscent of my Grandparents home. I ♥️ the uniqueness. The hotel has a serious tilt, things shake and the floor boards squeak when you walk, but it’s very cool! And, the host has made it very homey. I do wish someone had been there to explain the characteristics of the hotel. I haven’t seen or heard anyone, maybe they’ll appear as ghosts tonight 😂

The host was awesome and the energy was amazing and quiet and peaceful while staying in a beautiful historic property that has kept its authenticity.

One, the front door code hasn't been changed in a long time per others.
Two, no locks on thin paned windows.
Three, room door could be broken into easily.
Three, no screens on windows.
Four, The floors are terribly uneven and sqeaky.
Five, No air conditioning.
Six, I could here everything.
Seven, there's no tv.
I could go on.
I was here to hike Grays and Torreys the next morning, but got about an hour of sleep. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

The floors are very creaky, if you are a light sleeper take that into consideration. But lovely place! Very cool vibe.

Loved everything about this historic hotel. It’s not your typical hotel experience but as long as you expect that it’s a cool place to stay. Lots of cool old houses if you walk around town. I would book direct if you want to stay here - apparently there is an extra fee for Expedia bookings that I did not realize was not already included in the price’s fees until after my booking was complete. Overall paid $20 extra a night after multiple fees from this and normal taxes etc which made what a thought was a great deal more in line with the average prices of other nearby chain hotels.

Good value hotel. I like feeling like in old west when I stayed there.

If you’re looking for a posh, 5-star hotel, this is not that. It’s old and quirky. Everything is creaky and out of square. You park at the pot dispensary next door. You share a hallway bathroom with 6-7 other rooms. There’s no check-in counter. There are no restaurants in town (have to drive to Georgetown)
But if none of these are show-stoppers for you, the Windsor is pretty cool. Every question I had was answered almost instantly via text. There were fresh breakfast burritos and coffee awaiting every morning. The rooms were clean and functional. The bathroom was clean and well stocked with what you might need. The owner was friendly and helpful, the couple times we crossed paths. There were extra blankets, slippers, and other amenities available for you to use during your stay. The town is super cute, and there’s a cool trail up into the hills overlooking the town a couple blocks from the hotel. A couple friendly neighborhood dogs would greet me when a came and left.
It’s not for everyone, but if it’s for you, I imagine you’ll love it.

Had to find another place stay - wife did not feel safe as the padlock didn’t line up with the door sill and there were cracks in the wall, ceiling. There is a difference between “historic” and “I feel like I’m going to be murdered, this is so dilapidated”

While the hotel does have a certain charm, that charm ended at 2am on the first night of our stay. When the third floor denizens returned home at a late hour, we could hear every step they took, every word they uttered, and every squeak of the floorboards. It kept us up for over an an hour that night, and then again at 10pm on Sunday. Ultimately, a hotel is a place to sleep, and we had to buy ear plugs to try to get rest, though even that did not work.
Otherwise, the amenities were fine, though one toilet for 6 rooms is a bit of a stretch. The coffee and breakfast was quite good though.
Lastly, our room was not clean. We found a piece of plastic in the shag rug that must have been from a prior occupant, but when we lifted the bedskirt to look for a sock when leaving, I was horrified at what I could see underneath.

Makes you feel going back in time. Old house, but very functional and clean. Host very friendly and many small details are looked after.
I will come back in summer.

The Historic Windsor was a little more historic than I was expecting, but it was a fun adventure. It is an old building and as such has lots of creaky stairs and floors with a bit of settling. It reminded me of my grandparents' house in many ways, which was from the same era. The bathroom facilities were shared, with a water closet (toilet) in one room and the sink and tub/shower in an adjacent room. They did have hand sanitizer available, but washing hands could be delayed if someone is taking a shower. The rooms are small by today's standard, but were what you would expect from the time when the hotel was built. If you are looking for someplace that has an historic feel to it, The Historic Windsor certainly delivered. It was fun meeting other travelers, too. There was a common area and front porch and balcony, so if you like meeting new people it also was great for that. You do hear the floors creaking as others move about, but it wasn't too loud. We stayed in the Fall and the room was warm. It has a baseboard heater with individual controls for the room, though I suspect there is not a lot of insulation so not sure if it would be terribly warm in the coldest part of winter, but it was more than sufficient for us when it got down to freezing at night. Overall it was a fun stay.

Everything. Way overrated. Makes the rating system a joke and needs to be corrected. I DID NOT STAY and should receive a full refund.

Not what we expected. Neighborhood not good. Unleashed dogs in front of house.

We had a really good time in this small and cosy hotel! Rooms are small but really cosy, bed is confortable, breakfast is soooo good ( home-made banana muffins and burrito!). Shared bathroom and kitchen. We really enjoyed this historical hotel aftet our 9h flight from France. This is a lovely out of the time hotel. And also the coffee is really good. Thanks a lot!!

Despite the hotel being old (with old building issues), it was very clean. It has a certain charm that is hard to describe. The town is very quiet during the week. The food provided at breakfast was very good. Quiches and breakfast burritos. Filtered water, coffee and tea were always available. The interesting part was that in the whole hotel, there was one bathroom and one shower for people to share. Wasn’t really an issue during my stay, however, it could be if there were more people. Limited to no dining options in silver plume. Easy check in and check out. The rooms have multiple locks that work. Don’t let the stairs deter you from staying a night or two.

The Windsor is quaint, cozy, and full of Colorado history. It's the perfect antidote to homogeneous chain hotels.

Great service... very clean. I loved the fact it was so homey and best of all they kept up with the history of the place

nobody was meeting us when we came.
we called the posted phone number and an unfriendly woman told us that she had to look after 3 kids and 5 properties and how it was an imposition to ask her to meetus. She did not know our room number "because her wifi was down" and told us to look on the internet ourselves. We asked bout breakfast and were told that it is provided only for rooms over 130.- (ours was 127.-)
"Breakfast" BTW consists of some wrapped food in the fridge, to be microwaved by the guest.

there were additional charges added after checking out.

Windsor Hotel is not modern its a time capsule of years gone by. Art works adorn the property; the rooms are quint and the beds are so very comfortable. The floors & stairs they creak and moan...
Homemade meals plus desserts are awesome especially the Scottish Short bread with a pinch of dandelion to add another level of flavor.
Water closet is a must see with Lion Claw tub with all the features of yesteryear; just note its a wee high to step in.
Lauren the owner is doing an awesome job maintaining hotel with her two dogs and a very very friendly kat.....

Loved the uniqueness of this property. I had read up about this property, so I knew it would be an old boarding house with all the issues that come that. But was safe, well kept and clean. Owner did a great job making us feel at home

I'm from Chicago. We encountered a drugged out guy in a metal studded black leather jacket as soon as we came in front of the Hotel. He was SO drugged out or drunk (or something) that he could not stand to move out of the street leading into Silver Plume. Shades of Steven King? Then, we thought it prudent to get our baggage into one of the smallest rooms with a double bed I've ever stayed in. Then, the overwhelming smell of diesel fuel which forced us to vacate the premises without staying the night.

I have a thing for old Victorian hotels with minimal amenities and the muffins were terrific.

The heating in lounge area needs to be improved.

This place is cozy and cute. The pillows are super plush and the sheets are clean. I don't care that the shower and toilet are shared, but there is no fixing that. I don't see towels...and the wall from the parking lot to the building is potentially treacherous with oacked snow/ice.
