Nice and interesting since it’s an old jail. Situated a bit out on Katajanokka, tram just outside or a 10 min walk to downtown. Sauna is only on weekends. Breakfast was good but in the rather dark basement. Not so much nice lobby-areas. The charged price didn’t meet expectations, should be a 40EUR less per night according to the standard offered.

A great hotel with an interesting history. Brilliantly placed, Tram #4 stops right outside, Viking ferry is a 5 minute walk, great if you're arriving from or travelling in to Tallnn. City centre is an easy walk too. Great buffet breakfast

The hotel is in walkable distance to the port ( about a 15 min walk). It is in a quite part of town, there is a trolley right in front for Helsinki transport ( if you are aware of how to use it). Front desk staff very helpful and friendly

The hotel was amazing, clean rooms, very polite staff, amazing location. The breakfast had nice traditional Finnish bakery items, good Nespresso coffee and tasty pancakes among other things. Only issue was the rooms were a bit smaller than I thought.

The hotel is a remodeled prison, and it's very well done. The rooms are small, but have everything you need. The staff was very helpful and the breakfast buffet had a great variety of food. The location is several blocks from Market Square, but it's on a tram line for getting around Helsinki.

This was an amazing hotel. Very affordable for the quality you receive. One of the best morning breakfasts I’ve ever received at a hotel. They have top chefs there and do a great job. Last thing, you’re literally in an old prison. One of the coolest hotels I’ve stayed at so far in my life.

Old prison converted into boutique hotel, the yes if want to escape the ordinary this is the place to stay. Staff was very courteous knowing that it's my daughter's birthday they upgraded my room. They did allowed us early check in too. The property is very interesting, they have still kept 2 original cells in their actual condition to let visitors know the history. Very interesting collection of photographs too at the stairs. The restaurant really looked very cozy and nice though didn't tried their food. Tram no 4 from straight away goes on the gate of the hotel. Harbour is just on a walking distance so very nice location. Good luck to team Hotel Katanjokka 👍

Breakfast at Euro20 per head is a bit expensive. Take Tram 4 can go directly from Central Station back to hotel is convenience. If you have time, you can walk to the church and past through the bridge and reach the harbour then take ferry to other island.

Location is great. Short walk from the cruise ships, tram ride just outside the gate. Vintage!!! A prison turned into a great hotel. Excellent food and service, very comfortable rooms. The best stay in town.

I liked the historical vibe. The staff was invariably cheerful and helpful. Conveniently located within walking distance to waterfront and ferries; tram stop right in front of the hotel brings you straight to the old town and other attractions further beyond.Wish my room on the ground floor had day curtains besides having only blackout curtains. Electrical sockets found at inconvenient locations near the floor, instead of by the bedside or at the desk.

We had a great stay here for 2 nights. We had a large room, very comfortable bed, great shower and amenities. Breakfast was excellent. We arrived just before 9 on a Sunday and kitchen stayed open to cook us a hamburger. Tram stop right outside. Would definitely stay here again

We had an excellent stay here - we loved the style of the hotel, the terrace bar, and the helpful staff. It was also good walking distance to all of the things we wanted to do and see!

This is such a lovely hotel that I keep on coming back. The location is perfect, close to the the city center but quiet and peaceful. Breakfast is really good and they have plenty of gf options. Service is really good too. I only wish they had sauna offered regularly for the guests, not only on weekends.
