Stayed at The Garrison Hotel & Suites Dover-Durham on April 6th-7th. Clean, neat and convenient location. Soft pillows, comfortable bed. Great shower! Good water pressure, great bath products. Coffee was good. Continental breakfast was okay. They need plant-based milk and more allergen-free options. Larger fridge in room. Easy parking. CVS/pharmacy and Dunkin' Donuts right there. 5-10 minutes to UNH and Dover restaurants.

The lady who checked us in was amazing. She was very sympathetic to us being there because we had no power at home. It was very much appreciated! The room and bathroom were clean. The bed was super comfortable and even the pull out couch was comfortable!

The hotel room was very clean. The beds weren’t the most comfortable. Extremely disappointed to have gone to this hotel for my child to swim, only to find the pool had a big bubble coming from the ceiling with a hole in the middle with whatever was up there dripping into the pool! Not the best experience

Horrible breakfast selection, price increased once I got to hotel, the tried pre charging me before I got there even though I checked pay upon arrival. Front desk was helpful, bed was comfortable, room was clean.

We have always thought this hotel was great. This stay was different. The lighting in the room was horrible and very dim. The breakfast used to include hot eggs and sausage. This weekend they only had bagels/muffins/pancakes/cereal etc - not very low-carb friendly. Disappointing. No microwave in room either. You had to go to lobby to warm anything up.

One downfall is that my reservation got changed without noticed. I had chosen a room with 2 Queen beds. Upon my check-in, I got a “upgrade” to a King bed suite with a pullout sofa bed. The sofa bed was really uncomfortable for an adult. So they offered to bring a single size air marrées bed. The bed was deflating as we tried it to se the confort. The other option, was a queen mattress on the floor. At the end, the Queen mattress was fine. I cannot hide, the staff was nice & accommodating. They offered to adjust our nightly rate in consequence. After all, the for one night we stayed, it was good.

I stayed in a 1 room suite with a kitchenette with my boyfriend. The bed was huuge and so comfortable! Bathroom was clean, room was clean. The only problem i really had with my stay was the woman at the front desk did not ask a name for our reservation. She said we were the only people checking in that day so we figured we were fine. She took our card and we paid and then we realized we were charged for not my reservation. They charged our card for $500+ and ours was $200 ish. They immediately made everything right. They refunded the money back to my card which i got back 3 days later. They completely discounted my room. We got a steal afterwards.

The hotel was wonderful! We arrived and the entire hotel was decorated for Halloween (inside and outside). Jamie checked us in and she was wonderful. We had an issue with our television and she came right to the room and fixed it right away. Everyone working at the hotel was super pleasant. Would definitely stay here again when in the area.

The property was super clean and the decorations for fall and Halloween made it so fun to walk around and check everything out! The two women at the front desk were extremely kind and even provided us with recommendations for dinner. The room was super spacious and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We will definitely be back next fall when we visit!

This was my second time staying here, love location & staff is great, place is clean and quiet which I appreciate. They were all decked out for Halloween, so much fun, looks fantastic. Just a really pretty and calm aesthetic to the hotel. Definitely one of my faves!

Overall great stay. Hotel is well maintained considering its a bit dated but still functional and a good place to overnight. Room was good for two and clean/comfortable. The bathroom was small, relatively clean/maintained and served its purpose. Easy access off the Spalding Turnpike from Portsmouth and into Dover. Fairly quiet although its older construction allowed some sound carry. Hotel seemed to attract more mature guests even on a weekend. Breakfast was great with the usual choices.

The front desk staff made a mistake in taking my payment for a 3 night stay and charged me $1714.00 for a 3 night stay. I asked them to reverse the double charge which was on a Friday. They said the charge would not be reversed until Wed. They also told me the manager was not there until Monday, and I would have to speak with her. I was checking out on Monday and I asked for the manager and all of a sudden she was not in that day. So basically they gave me the run around and did not release the double charge to my account for one week. I called Bank of America and they said the double charges were still processing so they could not dispute until the hotel actually charged this to my account. Needless to say, after one week the hotel finally released the hold on my money and the charge dropped off of my account. Meanwhile, they had been paid on Monday. Unbelievable!! Also, after a long day and coming back to the hotel my room had not been cleaned, and I was told, "you have to officially request housekeeping, otherwise your room will not be cleaned." The room itself was nothing special for $300/night. It was a standard, non-updated room with very cheap furniture. The refrigerator was very narrow and I couldn't fit leftover containers. There was no microwave in the room, literally no amenities. Iron didn't work, I mean I really could go on and on....but the hotel is a rip-off and the staff needs lessons in customer service.

We stayed 2 nights over the labor day weekend @240 per night. The room smelled humid and stuffy. Staff was good. The breakfast items were limited. The bagels, muffins are grocery store quality and not from bakery. They were of low qualify. On sunday they server scrambled eggs but next day only cold breakfast. The room rates was same. We generally select these type of hotel expecting good quality breakfast. Otherwise hotel was fine.

Our stay a short 2-days but we would stay at the Garrison as long as we needed too. The Reception was warm, efficient and welcoming, both during our evening check-in and our early check out. Stay at the Garrison, you'll like it.

We picked this property because it was “highly rated.” The staff was very pleasant however, our unit was dirty and noisy. The toilet keep running and the air conditioner kept shutting off. The kitchenette was poorly equipped - it’s cabinets missing knobs and pulls. The property overall is very tired. It was not a pleasant stay,

Hotel was fine a little outdated but not bad. They price gouged like crazy because it was UNH move in day. Two nights cost more than the 7 nights I stayed at other hotels combined as I came from Washington state.

Stayed in King size suite. Room was spacious and clean. Location was great for access to Maine. Breakfast was basic...nothing special. We chose to eat at local restaurants. Staff was pleasant. Had a few minor issues. I would rate our room as an 8.5/10.

This was our favorite hotel we have stayed at in many years. quiet, clean comfy beds and pillows, good breakfast and half the rate of the hotels on the coast so a perfect base for exploring from Portsmouth to Portland and beyond. Would highly recommend!

We had a great stay at the Garrison! It was easy to get to and convenient to our activities in Portsmouth and in Maine. The hotel was clean, had comfy beds and had a very lovely grab and go breakfast. The only bummer was that the pool was out of commission during our stay.

Expedia or the hotel should change the pictures for the 2 different king suite options. I selected the king suite with tub but was told I booked the king suite with the pullout couch option, but in the picture it showed the tub. I double checked. I understand the mistake but was disappointed. Our room was good- it was on the first level near the pool. The rug felt sort of sticky and damp… but I kept my shoes on while walking on the floor. I would say overall it’s good for the price and location is 15 min from downtown Portsmouth.
