I loved the hotel and location for an authentic taste of the city. Unfortunately there was a party nearby that thumped music until 2pm so reading was almost impossible.

This place is a true gem! If you want something authentic, this is your place! Let me tell you! The sharing shower a little bit odd for me, but this place is cleaner than my own bathroom! This lady scrub that bathroom 5-6 times a day, every time I go in there is have towels, paper towels, toilet paper, soap, body wash, Lysol spray! The breakfast is included, and that is worth more than we payed for the room! Everyone is so nice, smiling, helpful! I stayed in another hotel, the price vas 7x what I payed here, and can’t even come close to this place! I already did a reservation later on for this year, to bring my kids back! So convenient, close to the airport, park, and animal rescue, bus stops, have small stores around, it’s nice to stay a couple days if you want to see a few tings in San Jose. I’m going to recommend this place for everyone! Wait a minute! Nope! I keep it to myself because I want to have a room available 😊

As soon as I booked, I called and the woman I talked to was eager and kind to talk to me, which was comforting. When I arrived, Carlos was waiting outside for me and made sure I had a fair price from the taxi driver. Immediately felt cared for. He then checked in many parties very quickly but kindly and thoughtfully. After quite a long and complicated week of traveling, it was a breath of fresh air to arrive here and feel taken care of. Carlos even made sure I had everything I needed food, water, first aid wise. Also, the place is gorgeous! Small, quaint, relaxing, and partially outdoors with a little hidden oasis. So sweet and special. I am really glad I stayed here. 10/10 would recommend to others staying in Alajuela City!

Looked for a hotel for my last day in Costa Rica, it is near the airport and with very friendly staff. Breackfast was great had fruit coffee pinto and eggs + banana muffin. Downside it does not have parking space.

For $100 a night it was cute and quaint and everything I needed. I did have to wipe the toilet seat a little bit which was annoying it didn’t seem to be fully cleaned. But the stay was comfy and the morning breakfast in the cute courtyard was great, good service and good lil spot.

Good location for walking distance, clean and comfortable beds, clean restroom with hot water the whole time, amazing staff and delicious food. The only downside is it gets hot in the room and with ceiling fan it’s more of a decor and there is room for 1 car to park in the property so it is first come first serve.

I stayed 2 nights, one in a private bath and one shared bath. The rooms are nice, lots of restaurants within 1-5 blocks, beautiful courtyard where they serve breakfast, generally helpful staff in an 80 year old Spanish style building. They were able to book a private tour to poas for me the following day at a very reasonable price - half the cost of listed package tours (tour recommended!) and they work with other groups too on day tours all over. Only negative is that it is a but noisy at night from the hallway/ courtyard as there is no AC so you need to keep your windows open to get some air.

Staff are lovely. Unfortunately the busy street, lack of parking, noise inside the hotel from breakfast being swrved right outside our room and the cleanliness of the room really diminished our experience and impression. It wasn’t quite what I expected. Would have likely just done something closer to the airport.

We had to stay one night near the airport. Great value. Very clean. We had to use a shared bathroom that could use some updating, but again very clean. Room was compact but very comfortable. Plus it included breakfast. Which was delicious. Staff was very helpful in finding transportation and recommendations. Cute little courtyard inside. Would recommend.

Convenient location near the airport, really helpful and friendly customer service they went above and beyond to get us transportation to the next city that we were heading to. We came back the last day and they storage our suitcases while we went around town because our flight was at midnight and they allow us to use the installations to take a shower and provide us with towels for a small fee. The day that we stayed there we got a room with it’s own bathroom, but it is also a great place for solo or bigger groups that get to share the bathrooms and shower really clean and comfortable.

Good first night after we arrived at San José airport. The hosts were extremely friendly, everything was clean and well prepared. Breakfast was simple but good 😊 the rooms and the shared amnesties were a little small but had everything you need! Can definitely recommend. Alajuela itself is a cute little town with good restaurants. Not a lot to do tho, so 1 night was fine! Thanks to the hosts that offer the rooms for a fair price!

This property is Ok. I arrived late and couldn't find a way to enter the property because there wasn't a clear sign of entry. The shared bath room was too small and had no warm water for shower.

This is a hidden gem in the city. The area around is safe and walkable. I asked for a traditional restaurant for dinner and their recommendation was spot on. The staff is awesome. Carlos at front desk is very helpful and responsive. The room was nice, clean and quiet. The breakfast was delicious. Definitely recommend it.

Beautiful old house wonderfully renovated with great staff and service!! Very walkable area with everything you need. Staff couldn't of been nicer! Even set up my taxi in the morning and made sure it was reliable. Very safe and comforable with a beautiful atrium for breakfast
Just keep in mind that it is an old house so is somewhat noisy but was very quiet once everyone went to bed.

This was my first time staying at this hotel and I arrived at night. When I woke up in the morning I was so pleasantly surprised to see it. The staff were amazing and so helpful. The breakfast was delicious and I loved the fact that it was Costa Rican with Gallo Pinto. I got to meet the owner. It's the perfect place for me to stay when I'm coming and going from the airport. Thanks so much for a great stay!

Feels like home. Both of the men at the reception desk today were incredibly helpful. They assisted me in transitioning to Costa Rica as I’m traveling alone and for the first time here. Looking forward to coming back next month!

We spent the first two nights and last two nights of our stay in Costa Rica at the Alajuela City Hotel and Guest House, and we have no regrets. The place has all what you need to for a pleasant stay, and above all, it is staffed with very friendly and helpful employees. Carlos and Fernando at the front desk were wonderful, and the same with the rest of the crew.
