On the second night I had to switch rooms and the room I was transferred to was not cleaned . They immediatley sent somebody but it was not cleaned to the normal standards

Overall a great experience, so I gave it 5 stars. Nice robes, towels, comfy beds, friendly staff. As a fellow business owner I would suggest three things. 1 Add sliding barndoors to the rooms instead of the curtain between the bedroom and bathroom. 2. Mark the light switches 3. Change the highend steakhouse to barfood and breakfast to match the casino and music venue. Food was amazing, but expensive.

Friendly efficient check in. Easy parking. Quiet, well appointed room

The rooms were large and beds comfortable. The bathroom was not stocked with supplies nor was the coffee maker unless you like Hazelnut Coffee... Its part of the adjacent casino and you have to find someone to help you. No food available. Adequate but lacking what you would normally expect. Feels a bit like walking into a building from the old west.

The TV didn’t work, neither did the volume so at night it didn’t turn off or turn done leading me to not be able to sleep. During the day the volume was too low to hear. The fan also made loud noises all day and night.

The room was fairly comfortable in an outdated charm, sort of way. The bathroom was fun with a slightly cringey led light equipped jet bath tub. Relaxing. The front desk staff at the casino who own the small hotel next door are just not very friendly and unwilling to provide helpful customer service. We decided to stay because hotels.com offered a better price. The casino was adamantly not willing to accommodate a military discount or upgrade any accommodations, like offering two beds after knowing we accidentally ordered one. They had plenty of other rooms. In truth, the hotel rooms were quaint, cute even. It’s the Casino staff and its smokey stench of an 80s throwback hangout for lonely slot machine enthusiasts, is the only problem. Hold your breath, pay for you room quickly, answer yes to their robotic questions and then go enjoy Lake Tahoe.

Cute and comfortable boutique hotel in a convenient location. Our only complaint is that you have to check in at the casino next door. No one was at the player's club desk so we had to hunt for an employee. He had to call for someone to come and check us in. Strange there is no front desk at the actual hotel. Other than that inconvenience, we had a nice stay.

The real stuff right? Good water pressure! Quiet area after sunset. Only suggestion would be a microwave.

The room is very clean. The bathroom is spacious.

A wonderful find! The house is beautiful, the rooms are large and very elegantly decorated and it’s quiet and has a rural feel despite being in the hub of things.

Its a great place to stay. Central location, close to the casino. I wish it had an ice machine on site.

Beautiful property and the room was gorgeous, better than I could have hoped for

Pros-Historic, spacious, nice bathroom and good location.
Cons-Dark, poor lighting in bedroom. Bathroom sink not draining, indoor and patio furniture as well as common areas very dusty. No instructions of any kind, phone does not access reception.
3.0
Upon check in, no one was monitoring reception. Had to summon the cashier to get someone...arrived 5 min. later.
Hallway leading to room smelled of beer. Dimly lit hallways, seedy kind of feel. Access / safety controls were up to date. Room was outdated and old, including carpet, fixtures, drapes, bathroom flooring, etc. Lighting in the room was inadequate, including the bathroom and mirror. Bedding and towels were clean. Other amenities were adequate and present (soaps, shampoo, dryer, coffee, etc.). Shower area was roomy and good shower head (probably due to disability access) Environment was quiet. Overall I felt like I was in a room which could have been in a crime scene drama. I wouldn't recommend.

Nothing to indicate that the check in was in the casino - unattached to the actual property. No directions or arrows to take you to the casino. Guests need to figure that out on their own. No staff at the front desk which added to the difficulty of the check in process.
The room was nice, clean and spacious

If I were to review just the Border house building itself I would give it a 10 out of 10. It is a really cool building, beautifully designed, great patio deck area and on historical registry. Great location for all the activities that we did. The room was amazing! A brand new jetted tub was great at the end of a long day of hiking. However it is connected to the Crystal Bay casino. It was very confusing to check there was no Clear Directions ever given. No information at the building are in the room as far as getting a hold of somebody. The casino is old, run down, and the smokiness is unreal! The area that it's located on is between a really nice area on the lake leading into a very iffy kind of area. Two major casinos one behind one in front that have been shut down and are elapidated. If it wasn't for this property being attached to the casino I would give it a 10 out of 10 for sure. One thing that I did not address with the establishment was at 12:30 the second night that we were staying there was banging on the door it was the sheriff's department. Three patrol cars three Sheriff's Department demanding we opened the door. I did they said somebody in the casino said I stole their phone. We had never been in the casino. So it was very upsetting and scary at the same time. I don't know how that came about and I have no idea why there would be three sheriffs just for somebody's phone being stolen.

Cons: Aside from the heavy deodorizer smell in the room, the window shades didn’t work. Also, there wasn’t a blow dryer. Pro: it was quiet and the accommodations were nice.

Nice, clean comfortable room and nice check in staff. Rooms are in a building separate from the casino, so smoke free except for the check in and check out inside the casino.

Our room on the top floor was fabulous. This hotel is close to Incline Village and other great locations in Lake Tahoe. We look forward to staying at the Border House again in the future.

Check in was a bit confusing. Nicely decorated room and superior bathroom. Missed reading light for bed. Great restaurant across the street!

The room was awesome! It had a gas fireplace and a huge shower/tub. I liked the double sinks too and it was very clean. Would definitely stay here again

Service in the casino is almost non-existent. But the room is very nice and the price was reasonable.

The beds were comfortable, and cable TV and gas fireplace worked. However, the hotel room needs a microwave oven, so we can warm up our dinner. Also, the jets on the jetted tub did not work.

Great location, beautiful room, comfy beds.....would stay again

The room was nice, but we experienced a few issues. There is no elevator, so probably not a good idea for the elderly unless you book the bottom floor. The hot water wasn’t hot enough to use the spa/bathtub until about 3 in the morning the day of checkout. The noisy jacuzzi jets in tub would go off unexpectedly several times throughout our stay. Manager was kind, but couldn’t help me with a partial refund because it was booked via hotels.com. Also no breakfast available within walking distance

Friendly and accomodating staff. Clean and great location.

Previous stay was great. Maybe it was this particular room (#8) but carpet wasn’t clean because my asthma started to flare up. Also the air would blow cold directly on my head and when it didn’t I was hot. I didn’t sleep well.

Service was poor due to no one working the reception desk. Keys malfunctioned,

Quirky and eclectic rooms and decor is old western but tooms are cmean, beds comfortable, Tv and satelite fantatic and ac superb. And price is best in the area

What a great find. The room was spacious and clean. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, and the gas fireplace was handy to take the chill off of the room in the morning. The only downside for us was lack of walkable restaurants in the immediate area. The attached casino has a steak and seafood restaurant, but too expensive for our one-night stay.

What a lovely property located more or less in central Salt Lake City. Very clean, modern, great breakfast, pools & amenities, and lots of fun restaurants within walking distance. The Front Desk staff is AMAZING and helpful and welcoming at this property. Plenty of free parking (self parking). Special shout out to Front Desk/Reservations person, Travis!! When I initially booked the reservation though Hotels.com, I immediately realized I had booked the wrong date. Uh-oh!!! Soooo, I called the property and fortunately got Travis. He asked me if I booked directly with the hotel, I told him I booked through Hotels.com, he said, "Just a minute, let me go to another computer." A moment later Travis was back, and said, "I think I can help you," and he did. He was able to change the date and disaster averted!! Thank you Travis for your kindness and stellar customer service. Had a GREAT stay at this well priced, wonderful resort. Great and helpful staff!!! A few extras for Hotels.com Gold Members, including free room upgrade if available. It's high customer rating is legit!!

It was well separated from the casino and quiet. Rooms need microwaves.

Although this property is associated with a casino you did not have to go into the casino other than to register. The room was clean, comfortable, temperature perfect, quiet, and everything one needs in a room. I would recommend and stay at the Border House again.
