Very Disappointing Stay – Poor Maintenance, Hygiene and Unresponsive Host
Manel, the owner’s wife, who was helpful during our stay. She provided us with some basic essentials that were not initially available in the house, such as dishwashing liquid, Fitox (disinfectant), and a sponge for cleaning the dishes. She also helped us find a local mechanic when my father's car broke down, which we truly appreciated.
Her father was helpful and friendly with issues we had.
We arrived at night, and due to poor lighting in the house, we couldn’t inspect all the details properly.
Main issues we faced:
• On the first night, we had no electricity or water from midnight until 10 a.m.
• Cockroaches were coming out from different areas of the house, which was very disturbing.
• There was a bad smell in the rooms, wardrobes, and especially in the kitchen sink area.
• The kitchen was poorly equipped, with missing utensils and no microwave.
• The hot water was unreliable. I reported the issue, a plumber came and seemed to fix it, but the same problem came back later.
• The washing machine sometimes worked and sometimes not – the door mechanism was faulty.
• TV channels were very limited – only Hotbird with just a few channels.
• The host's wife did not answer our call when the lights went off again at night. She only responded the next morning after I sent a message.
• I requested a refund for at least one night without electricity and water, but the owner refused.
• The remote controls didn’t work due to missing batteries.
• In the bathroom, the water overflows when you shower because the drain is poorly installed.
• There was visible dust in the kitchen cabinets and under the beds.
• The main road leading to the house is in poor condition.
On top of that, the region is full of mosquitoes, and it's impossible to stay outside at night — luckily, the house had mosquito nets on the windows.
Also, we didn’t expect was the construction work happening right next to the house during our stay. The noise was disturbing at times and early mornings.
The owner's reaction was unfortunately quite defensive and unprofessional. Instead of acknowledging the problems or trying to find a constructive solution, I was accused of having "bizarre behavior" simply for expressing legitimate concerns.
