Serious safety concerns raised and not taken seriously

Nice view, nice space indoors adequate outdoor fittings.

Very disappointing experience — serious safety concerns raised. Unfortunately, our stay was seriously affected by a gas smell coming from the boiler which is placed outside the property but inside a washing cupboard attached to the house. When we first raised the issue, the host initially tried to reassure us that this was normal and could happen when too much water was being used. Given the potential safety implications, we did not feel this was an appropriate response. After repeatedly asking for the issue to be properly investigated, someone eventually arrived with a wrench, but they did not appear to be a professional gas technician. We continued to ask for a proper resolution, and eventually a gas technician was sent after 24 hours - I was told that this was reasonable given it was southern Italy. Throughout the situation, the problem was repeatedly downplayed and we were simply told that there was no issue. The owner did not contact us for around 24 hours, despite being aware of the situation. I was in contact with the agent, but after ringing her four times, she never returned my calls, but only messaged me instead. We also specifically requested a certificate or written confirmation from the technician to reassure us that the boiler had been properly checked and was safe to use. Despite asking for this, we never received one. I am convinced, although have no proof except from the smell of gas coming from boiler whilst I was there, that the boiler had not been having any regular safety checks. What was most disappointing was the complete lack of apology or acknowledgement of how concerning this situation was for guests. When you are staying somewhere, basic safety should be a priority, and we did not feel that our concerns were treated with the seriousness they deserved. Based on our experience, we would not stay here again and cannot recommend this property. Guest safety should never be something that has to be repeatedly insisted upon.

Everything was very clean and the views and hot tub were spectacular, not to mention the wall of jasmine that makes the hot tub more relaxing! The kitchen was well stocked and has everything we needed for cooking. It was very private and the bathrooms were very nice with extra touches.

Only one thing. The mattresses were a bit too firm.
