We are fortunate that our home is on 5 acres that are pretty flat! 2. We see Deer around our apple trees almost every morning and night. 3. Many homes near the lake have neighbors very close by. We are fortunate that we are on a secluded road with little traffic and we have ample space between neighbors. 4. Many homes around Sacandaga Lake have little to no cell service. We are fortunate that there is a cell tower close to our home, so we tend to have good cell service. 5. Ready to wind down or just need to keep the kids busy? Smart TV’s are in all 3 bedrooms & the living room. Using guest mode, you can use your own log in for Netflix, Hulu, Amazon prime, etc. and it will automatically log you out at the end of your stay! The Story: The Lazy Bear Cabin was built in 1990 but has recently been remodeled to become the retreat of our dreams and now we are ready to share it with you. Our yard is very spacious and there is lots of wildlife in the woods area, who knows, maybe you’ll even see a bear! We hope that you enjoy our cabin as much as we do. Life gets hectic and sometimes we need a gentle reminder to put ourselves first every now and then. We decided to name our home “The Lazy Bear Cabin” to remind of us that when we are at the cabin, it is okay to be “Lazy” and relax. The Great Sacandaga Lake is a man-made lake with a surface area of about 41 square miles and a length of 29 miles. The word Sacandaga means “Land of the Waving Grass” in the local native language. The primary purpose for the creation of the reservoir was to control flooding on the Hudson River and the Sacandaga River by use of the Dam. Water levels fluctuate depending on weather conditions and Damming but tend to be the highest at the beginning of the season and the lowest at the end. Guest access: Guests have access to the entire house aside from the furnace room. Guests do not have access to shed or garage. Guests do not have access to the washer/dryer. Early check-in/late check-out: If you would like to check in early or check out late, please let us know at the time of booking. There is a $30 fee for early check-in or late check-out. Although it is not guaranteed, we will make every effort to fulfill your request. Fun Facts: 1. You can see gorgeous sunrises/sunsets on The Great Sacandaga Lake. There are several public beaches around the lake. 2. Many folks around the lake have reported bear and moose sightings over the years (sometimes they even swim in the lake!) 3. We provide many household staples which other listings may not include. Please be thoughtful about this and don't ruin it for future guests. We are only able to offer these things if guests are mindful of only using what they need. (Please don't take our extra paper towels, toilet paper, condiments, tissue boxes, etc. home with you.) 4. We have kindly put together a local guide which will be waiting for you in the Cabin. This will help you find fun activities to do, local restaurants, boat launches, public beaches, concert halls, etc. 5. We will try our best to make sure you have a wonderful stay! That's what booking a trip is all about, anyway. We recommend doing your grocery shopping before you arrive. If you forget something, the closest grocery stores are Tops Supermarket or J.F. Farm Store & Café in Northville (20 minute drive). Key/Door Procedures: Prior to your arrival, you will receive a code to the cabin. This code will ONLY be valid from check-in time to check-out time. I can’t express how much this vacation meant to my family. The cabin was a perfect fit for my family of 5. I watched my children challenge themselves in kayaking, fishing, and hiking!! All of which they succeeded. Such a beautiful piece of the world to get away to! Jessica was wonderful at communicating and answering all of our question both before and during the trip! We are so happy she opened her home to us and we could create so many memories! My kids cried when leaving each saying they wanted to stay at the Lazy Bear Cabin!

We stayed for two nights and easily could have done a week. From the bonfire area, kayaks and dock access, kid-friendly details like toys and board games, the kids were in heaven! The adults enjoyed the quiet, porches, true log cabin feel, and kitchen accessories to make cooking a treat. We did white water rafting 20min away and it was incredible.Thank you for everything!

We had a great time at the cabin. It’s cozy and has everything you’d need for a vacation get away. Although, the dock and kayaks in the Lake are a bonus we didn’t get to use them due to very windy conditions. Jessica is a great host and very helpful.
