Serene luxe.
Upon arrival, the smooth check in and welcome afternoon tea set was a great way to set the tone of what one can expect from the stay. The private bath was a nice touch to add to the entire onsen experience. We loved all the detail attention that had been put into preparing and serving the meals. Our stay was both luxurious and exquisite with a perfectly serene ambience. A great start to our first visit to Kanazawa.

Reasonable Hot Springs Ryokan, mainly enjoyed the dining
I liked that the staff was accommodating -- they were friendly and started setting up for our arrival even before we flew out to Japan via messaging. There was a game room with dart boards, billiards, and a ping pong table and also a reading room with some magazines and books. Espresso/coffee machine and tea/juice were both complimentary. There was hot springs bath for men and for women, but it's not that expansive. It was our first ryokan stay and the highlight was the multi-course dining. Our first meal was dinner, served literally after we checked in and settled in a little, and we were assigned our own private room in the dining hall and served a delectable tasting of Ishikawa specialties, both land and sea. It was a lot of food. Breakfast, Dinner, Breakfast -- 4 meals total for our 2 night stay. Each meal was scrumptious and a total delight to our taste buds. We utilized the hotel shuttle to get from Kanazawa station >> hotel, hotel >> 21st century museum, station >> hotel, hotel >> station. I thought that the pricing was reasonable given the dishes served.
The online photos make the rooms look more spacious than they actually are. With the standard Japanese style room, 2-3 people would be ideal, 4 people is tight. There wasn't much room to layout our luggage and since the tatami area is both sitting area and sleeping area, there wasn't much we can do in the room. We had some minor headaches with the staff getting our luggage and bedding setup accurate -- we had 2 rooms and after we checked-in and gone to our rooms, we learnt that they sent our luggage to the wrong rooms even after just confirming with them downstairs. And then on our 2nd night, the staff got our bedding arrangement wrong...making 3 futon beds in the room that should have 4 and 4 futon beds in the room that should have 2. Again, it's annoying because we had just spoken with the staff earlier about the bedding setup. The rooms weren't 100% clean either. Facility is like a renovated modern hotel trying to be a luxury ryokan but lacks the history and the amenities. The location is about 25-30 mins by car from Kanazawa city-center; we utilized the hotel shuttle to get in/out during entire stay. BUT, in my opinion, the remoteness is not completely a bad thing -- it's lush green scenery all around and we had a fun walk to the nearby shrine.

Terrible value and mediocre facilities, room and service.
The meals were okay. Best thing about room was partial open air bath in room
Way too expensive for the quality of the room, facilities and service. Felt cheated out of my money. Paid way more than Four Seasons Kyoto or Tokyo and received much less in return. I’m very upset

Exceptional
Loved the hotel. Location was a little far out for us. Taxi back and forth to town was about $50 USD each way and some taxis only took cash. Hotel and staff were exceptional.

Very good
The dinner and breakfast were excellent and exceed our expectation. If you love dining, this is a place for you. The hotel is a bit far but it's manageable with the hotel shuttle. The hotel environment is peaceful. There is a private onsen with a comfortable half outdoor room. Booking the private onsen should be done when you check in.
