Stunning location ruined by poor maintenance and hostile neighbors

The location is beautiful, offering breathtaking views of Tropea, Stromboli, and the coastline. The complex is older, but the pool area and garden were kept in decent condition. Fast and responsive management through booking.com webiste/app.

Unfortunately, the apartment urgently needs renovation and is not worth even half the price we paid. Condition & Hygiene: Stained walls, peeling plaster, dampness, and visible mold near the bathroom. There was an ant infestation throughout the apartment. The photos on Booking.com don't show the real condition of the apartment - they were most likely taken a long time ago. Moreover, these photos seem to be mixed with photos of another apartment, which is confusing. Basic Amenities: There was no trash bin, no kitchen towel, and no soap. Finding no soap upon arrival after a long trip was a huge disappointment. The kitchen faucet was spraying water everywhere, and the stove was hard to adjust. Discomfort & Noise: In one bedroom, there was an extremely uncomfortable mattress. The toilet flush was deafeningly loud, and noisy AC units in the inner courtyard made sleeping unpleasant in the second bedroom - this was a major issue during hot nights. Safety & Disturbance: The AC leaked water directly onto the balcony, creating a slipping hazard. Our kid got a minor injury there after slipping and hitting his head. Mid-stay, neighbors downstairs (claiming to be the owners of the apartment below) started using a charcoal grill daily, blowing smoke directly onto our balcony and into our windows. When we politely asked them to move it further away, they became aggressive and intimidating. Host & Management: The people managing the apartment were helpful and reacted quickly to our inquiries; however, I shouldn't have to contact them for basic items like a missing trash bin or kitchen towel or AC leak on balcony. I also felt uncomfortable contacting them about the neighbor. During check-in, we waited for an hour at the gate because our initial check-in contact did not speak English (and apparently had other duties). Overall, a stunning location ruined by poor maintenance and hostile neighbors. Would not recommend, especially at this price.
