We had the most wonderful stay at The Village Guest house, mainly because of the wonderful staff and owner, Yannik, who was so kind and welcoming to us.
We booked for 4 nights and could happily have stayed longer. The room was immaculate, with everything we needed. The location, just outside of the centre of town was perfect, as we had access to plenty of places to eat nearby but were cocooned in a peaceful retreat from the busy traffic in the centre of Ubud.
Yannik can make arrangements for trips so if you are thinking of doing anything, I'd recommend asking him first, he's a wealth of information. He took us on a fantastic day trip to the rice fields, temple, coffee plantation, waterfall and viewpoint overlooking Mount Batur. He also very generously invited us to his family's temple celebration, a wonderful highlight.
We cannot recommend this place highly enough, the welcome we received was outstanding. Thanks Yannik and everyone at The Village.

We did enjoy our rooms and the pool. The staff were lovely but a major mistake was made at checkout
The billing and charges were haphazard. Girls that had booked the cooking class were asked to pay twice but that was sorted out at the time. HOWEVER I had paid for all our rooms in advance through booking.com. It was billed before arrival. I had booked all our accommodation through booking.com in several locations all with different payment arrangements. In my confusion at checkout and not being able to access internet at the office I could not check what payment was required. We were presented with incorrect billing.
6 rooms for 6 nights not 3 nights. After correction 3 ladies paid by credit card and received a receipt. 3 rooms were payed by cash but were not offered a receipt. We should not have been charged at all for anything other than water bottles and soft drinks consumed at the hotel as payment had been debited from my card before we arrived.
