Situated in Chimney Rock, this attractive cabin for $146 per night is a great option for your next vacation. The Wandering Bear Cabin is one of Three rental cabins on our property that is not a log cabin, the Wandering Bear Cabin has one bedroom and one bath, a full kitchen and a large living room. It is very comfortable for two people. The front porch is furnished for dining and relaxing, and is enclosed for your privacy. This cabin has a washer and dryer. The 'Wandering Bears' Cabin is pet friendly. This cabin was originally built in the early 1940's to house the camp counselors when camp "Tally-Ho!" was on the property . The owners love bears (real and plush) and love to travel, so the name is for everyone that shares our passion for both.

Lovely cabin. We loved the hot tub and decor. Cabin was clean. We were not informed that the lake would be drained. A few key selling point of cabin were that it sat near lake and could use kayaks for free on lake. Since lake was drained kayaks could not be used and view was not nice. This would have been okay however it seems that we paid a lot considering the lake was drained and unable to use kayaks. It would seem that price would have been adjusted for this. Other than that, the cabin was very nice and clean. Location was perfect, near everything. Just feel like we paid too much for there to not be a lake. And no notice of this prior to booking.

My husband and I are Lake Lure residents who enjoy an occasional weekend away. Because we are also parents, we like to stay close to home. This cabin is perfect, comfortable, fun, and layed back. Just what we wanted thank you. We will definitely be booking again.

There were cobwebs every where, the walls, the ceiling, doorframes, window frames, decorations, every where! Everything in the kitchen need scrubbed so we washed what we used first. The laundry room had lots of dust bunnies around the baseboards. I hope the owner isn't paying for a lot of work that isn't happening. The cabin was very rustic, not a problem. It could be relatively cute but we were fixating on the lack of cleanliness. The location is wonderful, the neighborhood scenic. It could be a joy to spend time in. We didn't call when we got there because every day was very hectic, visiting family, so we tolerated it. I hope it gets the heavy cleaning it needs because it could be a nice place.

Pine Gables Wandering Bears cabin was a perfect little spot for a weekend getaway to explore Lake Lure, Chimney Rock and watch the leaves change colors in the mountains. Easy check-in, cozy home, quick walk to the lake (with view of chimney rock). Though the hot tub was out for repair, the property manager communicated this with us beforehand and offered a total refund or discount if this was a make-or-break. I'm sure the hot tub would've been a lovely addition during the fall/winter weather, but we enjoyed the property nonetheless. Highly recommend.

We had the wondering bears cabin we loved it, hot tub on screened in porch! Kitchen living room TV bathroom and bedroom clean even a ironing board, washer and dryer. It was very clean and peaceful and antique!! Only complaint would be the bed definitely needs an upgrade. Other than that perfect anniversary couples cabin in the woods, we will be back!!

The property the cabin was on was great, it was close to the lake, the flowering bridge, and to the beach, and made it very easy to get around. The cabin was outdated and in need of a good cleaning, lots of dust and cobwebs and the furniture was very uncomfortable to sit on . The cabin is a really nice size and in a great location, it just needs some TLC and updating.

This is a neat property that is part of an old Boys Camp and has been updated. Keep in mind its very rustic so if you want something new this is not the property for you. Has lots of character and is situated in a beautiful serene setting on the lake and about 2 minutes to Lake Lure and Chimney Rock. Also Verizon wont work here and they do have an ok wifi signal. We did have a couple come on the 2nd day who had also successfully booked the cabin through another service. Luckily it didn't cause us any complications since we were already there, but something to be aware of. Also not the property owners fault, but we biked into town and had a group in a minivan from Florida scream obscenities at my girlfriend as they drove by on Boys Camp Road (speed limit 25 mph). That was very disappointing and something to be aware of (the out of state tourists) if you are biking there. Great place, nice hot tub, and perfect location.

We arrived early at the cabin thanks to the rain, The cleaning lady got a flat apparently but she never showed. Had no sheets, no towels, no blankets no nothing. And then the hot tub is way outta date, has a electrical outlet beside it that shocked me when I slipped on the last people to be in there's sand and got water on the outlet that 1 inch away, just a little bit tho. The whole wall was electrically buzzing. I didnt sleep that night as for fear of it burning down. Do not recommend.

We will return. Jim is awesome and helped us out. If you want peace and quiet with a great location, look no further. So much better than motel with yelling or slamming doors. None of that here but stillness and bulldog crocking. Lake Lure out the door. Well maintained lawn. This is not the Ritz but the location and cleanliness is worth the stay

The property was beautifully placed between lakes/ponds with access to beautiful scenery and activities. The property was exactly as described. Just 2 minutes from The Flowering Garden and small town shops of Chimney Rock.
