We enjoyed our stay in the Friends By the Sea home. The house was very comfortable, clean and had a fairly well stocked kitchen. The home had a very welcoming feel to it. We will be back!

The house is in a great location, within walking distance to the beach, restaurants, and coffee. The bedrooms are all located upstairs which makes for a great separation of living and sleeping spaces. The hot tub and fire pit were family favorites!

It's a nice location and the house is comfortable, but it's readily apparent that no one's ever *lived* there. You know how some house rentals are charming and full of the owner's personality? Books, art, well-loved toys, curated knick knacks... this is the opposite of that. The development has big HoA energy, including an idiotic sign prohibiting walking the 50 ft to the neighboring skatepark* (and future playground). They're big expensive houses that I'm sure are also nice inside, but it all feels real nimby and cookie cutter. So instead of feeling like you're house-sitting in a neighborhood and helping out some homeowner, it's abundantly clear there are corporations at every step. The house itself was clean, quiet and comfortable. But one bunk bed ladder's loose screws let it pull in/out a full inch; one bicycle's handlebars were totally loose in the stem; a kitchen stool's bolts had loosened so much it was downright dangerous to sit on; the door handle to the garage was wobbling around in the door; the garage door sensor was knocked off so the door wouldn't close; etc etc. None of these are a big deal, they're all 2-minute fixes if you have the tools: I share them because they describe the vibe of a house that feels like it was built by a corporate algorithm and then walked away from. It's great walking distance to town and the beach, and we had good time. But staying there felt like being part of the problem with US real estate. And the sandbox isn't there, either.

I booked this VRBO for a family retreat. My parents, My brother and his family and me and my family all stayed. The positives about this VRBO are location (amazing location!) and amenities like hot tub and fire pit. We didn't get to use the game area in the garage because we were so busy, but it looked fun. The sound system on the TV is AMAZING! The washer and dryer are top notch! The negatives: the property is not well maintained. The bikes were broken, the oven billowed black smoke when turned on, the grill runs super hot so we had to turn the burners on one side on low and cook on the other, You can't use the garbage disposal. The carpet needs cleaning. There are tiles missing in the bathroom and mold along the floor. The house has many rules and they are set forth as if they are for frat boys. We didn't have any problem with any of the rules, it's just that you can say things nicely and make people feel welcome. The owners of this home are not happy to have you there, they consider you lucky to be there and they fully expect you to screw up. That's the vibe. Finally, the cameras. It is pretty shocking to be sitting outside in the hot tub when the camera suddenly comes on. Make no mistake, you are being watched. I asked the property manager about it and she refused to directly answer my question if they took and have video and pictures of my family. I found it disturbing. Be aware. Location and amenities make the place. But there are real negatives.
