The "Rhöner-Auszeit" vacation home is located in the small village of Kaltenwestheim.

It is situated in the heart of the Rhön Biosphere Reserve and just 200 meters from the premium hiking trail "Der Hochrhöner."

In August 2014, the International Dark Sky Association awarded the region the title “Star Park in the Rhön Biosphere Reserve.” This is because the sky here is still full of stars, offering views of the planets in our solar system.

Thanks to its prime location and proximity to the tri-state border region of Hesse, Bavaria, and Thuringia, the vacation home is a perfect starting point for hikes and bike rides in the Rhön low mountain range and along the Green Belt.

The nearly 100-year-old house was completely renovated in 2018. The renovation resulted in two vacation apartments featuring modern amenities and design, as well as ceiling heights of over 2.20 meters. In 2021, a third vacation apartment (Ringeltaube) was renovated and built in the annex.

Nevertheless, care was taken during the renovation to preserve the country house elements
that are part of the building’s history.


The “Wildkatze” apartment includes a crib, which families with small children can use free of charge.
In the “Sternenpark” apartment, a travel crib for toddlers can be provided free of charge. (No comforter, pillow, or bedding is provided for the crib or travel crib. Guests must bring their own. A mattress is provided.)

The “Ringeltaube” apartment is suitable for one-night stays and is therefore ideal for travelers passing through (hikers and cyclists).
The fenced-in courtyard offers space for families with children, a slide with a sandbox, a seating area, and a grill.

Lockable parking spaces for bicycles, e-bikes, and motorcycles are available upon request.
A parking lot is available for our guests right next to the vacation home. Guests can use one of two parking spaces in the courtyard or a space along the side of the house or on the side street. Additional public parking spaces are available in the immediate vicinity.

Wi-Fi is available free of charge in the apartments.


Pets allowed upon request.
Small pets are permitted in the vacation apartments upon request. For larger dogs, there is a nice kennel with a large outdoor area/meadow in the annex.



"Ringeltaube" Vacation Rental:

The "Ringeltaube" apartment is located in the adjacent building. It accommodates 2 people (up to 3 people possible upon request).

The apartment was completely renovated in 2021 and offers modern amenities and a design featuring country-style elements in a compact space.

The bedroom is located in the attic, accessible via a narrow staircase with a handrail. It is furnished with two single beds and is the perfect place to relax.
The kitchen-living room is equipped with a kitchenette (induction cooktop, mini-oven, refrigerator, electric kettle, coffee maker, toaster). A dining table with chairs, an LCD TV, and a radio are also provided.

Free Wi-Fi is available in the apartment.
A lockable parking space for bicycles, e-bikes, and motorcycles is available; pets are permitted upon request.

Pets are not permitted in the vacation apartments. Overnight accommodations for dogs (a kennel with a grassy area for exercise) can be booked.
Towels and bed linens are provided and included in the rental price. A travel crib for children can be provided upon request. No comforter, pillows, or bedding are provided for the travel crib. Guests must bring these items themselves.



Check-in is available from 3:00 PM to midnight, and check-out is from midnight to 10:00 AM.
