Historic Hotel Packwood

Fantastic stay! Everything is beautiful, comfortable, and organized.

Amazingly restored old hotel with all the charm of a 1912 building with amenities suitable to 2026 travel. The hotel is full of warm colors, comfy furniture, and very, very clean. The bed was extra comfortable with nice linens and the bathrooms, though small, were sparkling clean and get the job done. Though there are no provided meals, the dining room is large enough to host several groups playing games, eating take-out food, or just hanging out and talking. There is a shared refrigerator hosting milks for morning coffee, filtered cold water, and space for leftovers, yogurts, and snacks we'd brought with us. There is space for gathering and conversation in the living room, in front of a fireplace. I commandeered the nook, tucked underneath the stairs, for a day of reading and writing while others in my group participated in a race event. It might have been the best down time I've ever experienced while traveling. Though it was chilly and rainy while we were there, there is a large front porch with comfortable chairs where one can sit on better days and watch hikers, fishers, kayakers, and others move through the main street of Packwood. The hotel is on the main street in town, across from several places to dine. On Saturday, there is a Makers Market at the library next to the hotel, full of locally made goods and friendly artisans. On Sunday, a small herd of deer showed up in the hotel backyard, a heartwarming end to our relaxing and comfortable weekend.

For anyone who has mobility problems, it's important to note that bedrooms are accessed via stairs. They have railings, and were not hard to climb, but it is the only way to reach the rooms. This wasn't a problem for us.

It is a gorgeous hotel in a great location, freshly updated and has EVERYTHING for the guests comfort

Clean & comfortable

No, TV, radio, coffee pot or mini fridge available in our stand alone suite. No outside chairs next to our unit. Yes, we could go into the main lodge, would have been nice to have some of those things considering how much the little "shack" cost overall.
