Very disappointing - the house could be so much better, with a little care from the owner.
The location is good for access to the surrounding area, and is near to a large town and services, whilst still in a rural setting. The garden is enclosed and private, with automatic driveway gates.
The building has a very strong odour of sewage, throughout all rooms, at all times of the day. This was very disturbing. It seems to be coming from the cellar and the drains. It is worst in the main entrance, and in the bathroom. The lighting is very bad in all rooms except for the kitchen and the bathroom. The bed is very uncomfortable. The garden and driveway are of fine grit, which enters the house underfoot, quickly spreading everywhere. We had to sweep the floors every day, to try to keep this down.
The cleaning equipment is completely inadequate - two vacuum cleaners, neither works properly. All sweeping brushes are worn out (we had to buy new ones). The main entrance suffers a strong and cold draught from the cellar; the cellar door does not fit properly at all.
The window shutters cannot be opened on any day with even a slight wind, since the catches do not work, and the shutters clatter back and forth. This means that, with the shutters closed, no sunlight can enter the rooms, and we had to rely on the inadequate internal electric lighting, instead of the lovely winter sunshine.
Many of the fittings are worn out, and should be replaced immediately. We would not stay here again, nor would we recommend this to anyone else.
