Ginger House Museum Hotel

Just walking in, antique statues lined both sides of the path, left & right, like the hotel wanted us to know exactly what kind of stay this was going to be. Martin was the most welcoming host, he accommodated my last minute birthday cake request. When the rain came in, he showed up with an umbrella before we even had to ask. We stayed in the presidential suite, surrounded by antique furniture that made the whole room feel like it belonged in a different century. There was an actual step stool by the bed because the bed was tall enough to need one and climbing up into it every night felt ridiculous in the best way. Like we'd been knighted into some kind of temporary royalty. The beds were so comfortable we overslept... more than once. And the bathrooms were modern and luxurious. And breakfast, by the water, was one of those meals you remember. The puri. The onion uttapam. The fruits. The staff kept offering seconds, but we could barely move. There's a massive boat inside the hotel. And a ballroom done up in full French decor. Stare worthy. Step outside and the street is lined with shops selling spices, antiques, jewelry, clothes, all within walking distance. And if you feel like walking.. Fort Kochi is 45 minutes away on foot, and the walk itself is half the fun, with sights and shops all along the way.

Nothing to complain about here. This is a five-star stay, full stop. The hotel sits on a different island, so getting there means crossing a bridge on narrow roads with traffic, that gets crazier when it rains. But this stay is so worth it.

Such a charming and unique stay - we won’t ever forget it! The rooms were designed beautifully, featuring creative and antique pieces. We were looked after very well by the friendly staff, especially Martin who took the time to show us around and share lots of information about the property and antiques. Location is amazing too - right by the water, so we had a lovely view from one of the rooms and the pool as well as the restaurant, and easy to explore Kochi from there.

Everything was perfect and made so much better by the wonderfully attentive and pleasant staff We stayed in the Presidential Suite and felt like royalty The location was very central to everywhere Tuk tuk at the door Martin was so kind and allowed us to stay longer in the room because our flight didn’t leave till 6! Beautiful room, beautiful decor, well located

A man who worked at the hotel restaurant was totally creepy to me. Repeatedly asked me my room number, asked if I was single, and offered to bring my check to my room. Very unprofessional. When i told the manager he tried to have me confront this man myself. Later he brought me fruit and said the guy didn’t speak English well so that was his excuse… he spoke English pretty well to me. It’s really a shame because the rest of the hotel was beautiful
