We had booked three nights, and to be honest, we weren’t quite sure what to expect. We usually travel independently with a rooftop tent, and my husband has been leading trips in Africa for the past 25 years – and normally refuses to stay in lodges when we travel. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Gary – and the absolutely wonderful Pluto (a dog we sadly couldn’t fit into our suitcase and bring back to Denmark). We were genuinely surprised by the quality of the tent – it was beautiful, very well designed, and incredibly functional. Edyta was kind, attentive, and an amazing cook. The food was truly something special – not the usual lodge-style food, which I personally often find a bit bland and repetitive, but homemade dishes full of flavor and care. We spent time out with Gary, and since we both have a background in conservation, we had many great conversations and gained new perspectives. These were not your typical game drives – we were out monitoring wildlife and even searching for a lost radio transmitter, which made the experience feel both real and meaningful. We had incredible wildlife sightings, and it’s something we will absolutely come back for. We enjoyed our stay so much that we extended it by an extra night. If you’re in the area, don’t hesitate to book – we will definitely be back to visit Edyta, Gary, and Pluto.
