Fabulous location, quiet area, ample parking. Room was spacious and homey feeling. We loved having a pool side room. Pool area was spacious and so nice to relax poolside.

First night seemed to go well. Hotel was dated but seemed clean enough. Second night the pull out sofa was full of crawling ants. My 8 year old refused to sleep in it. Couldn’t switch rooms because they were fully booked so opted for a roll away. Next morning front desk says they can’t do anything for a credit since we booked through a third party app 🙃 just a heads up.

The property offered an open pool and play area. The hotel was contacted prior to visit to check on services offered. They guaranteed the pool and play area would be open. We were doing a reunion with five rooms. The services offered were not available.

Service at the attached Old Chicago was awful. Staff was rude, manager was clueless. If it wasn't so cold we would have left and went elsewhere. Will not be eating there again.

Live in town. Had a 5 day weekend due to snow & cold with 3 cooped up boy kids. Needed a break from cabin fever. Best pool in town. Requested a poolside room, could see the dudes from our room window. For less than $100, we swam, played ping pong and pool, had the included breakfast buffet, and played board games in the vast, well lit and warm central space by the pool. Our boys (8, 10, and 13) swam from 1200 check in till dinner, after dinner till close at 2200, and after breakfast until 1100 check out. Showers were warm. Beds comfy. Staff hand ample quarters on hand for exchange for the arcade and “Always a winner,” pool-friendly, rubber ducky claw game.
Great time. Super cost effective winter escape.

My biggest complaint is the HEAVY chlorine smell, the whole swimming area was literally freezing and the condensation above the pool is dripping off the rusty beams into the pool. Beds weren't really comfortable and rooms were hot with fans on. Stay was good still. Staff were friendly and they had a nice breakfast area.

Clean room, great location, the pool area was super cool too if you’re with a group. The elevator was out when we were there but we didn’t need it anyway. Also, the only odd thing for us specifically was that our room was very warm. It’s December and we had to use the air conditioning bc the room kept going up to about 76.
Breakfast was fine as well.

To be honest, I was very disappointed. When we arrived on Friday we stood in line for 30 minutes waiting to be checked in - a Friday afternoon and only one staffer checking people in? The sink in our room had a large, dirty crack. The varnish was coming off the bottom of the bathroom door. There was just a super tiny shampoo & conditioner bottle in the bathroom, no lotion though. Guests have to go through the swimming pool area just to get to the elevator, which is tiny and beyond super slow. There were no lids for the coffee cups in the room. The property literally has piles of dog poop everywhere outside. I get that dog owners should be picking up their dog waste, but the fact is, they're not, but then the staff isn't either! There is a single doggie bag station outside but on the side of building where people would never expect to find it. The breakfast buffet was terrible. The pancakes tasted terrible, the "scrambled" eggs were those powdered eggs. There was no waffle station. The breakfast buffet was clear in the back of the attached restaurant with NO signage directing guests as to how to find it. Seating was very limited, we had to sit in the restaurant. There was no fresh fruit, no oatmeal, the syrup for the pancakes was in a carafe but was stone cold! The butter for the pancakes or toast was in a very stupid location and nowhere near the bread or pancakes. This hotel is very dated, I felt like I was in an old Motel 6.

My check-in time was supposed to be 3:00 pm. Room was not ready when I arrived at 4:45 pm. Then the room was not clean when I walked into it. The toilet seat was left up and there was visible urine on the toilet. Clearly had not been cleaned. There was also popcorn on the floor near the bed. Nothing felt clean or wiped. There were weird tapping, scurrying noises in our ceiling all night, pretty sure it was some kind of rodents. This hotel charges $200 per night and it is so trashy and needs updating in a BAD way! RIP OFF. Please go elsewhere. Go to Hampton Inn Dubuque or Fairfield. Do not go to the Best Western on Dodge St. I will never stay here again.

The checkin in was a hot mess. We arrived early was told check wasn’t for an hour or so. So we relaxed in the waiting area with the front desk staff knowing we would liked checked in early if possible. Once they got rooms ready others had arrived also and unless I wouldn’t have gotten up and stepped up the staff was just checking other in as they walked in instead of calling on us to check in. We were a little put off by all of that. The room was clean and nice and the hot tub after a busy couple of days was nice.

The gal at check-in was not very friendly and I seemed like an inconvenience to her. I went to the attached restaurant/bar to get dinner and it was not a good experience. I had to find the hostess to be seated, was seated, waited for about 15 minutes, nobody ever came to wait on me, I watched 4 employees standing in a circle chatting the entire time, I got up to ask about service and was told I should go to the bar as they were not staffed to wait on me. Huh? I was too tired to drive somewhere else as I had been driving all day.
The gal who waited me at the bar was very pleasant and apologized for the prior experience.

I booked this hotel based on other members' reviews but regret doing so. I don't know that I will ever stay at a Best Western again. This was hands down the worst experience at a hotel my family has ever had. Our second room was changed 4 times and we still didn't get what we had reserved. We reserved a suite with a fold away queen sofa, and when given a room without the sofa, were offered a roll away twin bed as compensation. The guy at the desk seemed really out of it. When we asked the size of the roll away bed, he said "15." Not 15 inches, 15 feet, twin. Just "15." The night manager he contacted said that the day manager would have to deal with it. On the upside, the night manager did know the difference between a twin and queen size bed.
The elevator was not functional, and we were informed that my wife, with her mobility issues, would have to "figure out" how to get to the 4th floor.
We know there were rooms on the parking level, because after being moved around multiple times, our second room ended up being on that floor.
After a number of issues, we offered to just have it refunded and we'd try a different hotel, and were again told the night manager couldn't handle that.
Finally the night manager had to come in to get us a room and when we were going into the room with him, the main light switch wasn't working. He turned on all the lamps and at that point we were so exhausted, we just said we would work around it.
