Best place to stay in Walla Walla. Always great

We have stayed at the MW in the past. The rennovated lobby was handsome but very dark. We missed the complimentary breakfast that previously was included in your stay. The beds are very comfortable and rooms clean and tidy. It’s also so convenient to be within walking distance to wineries, shops and restaurants!

We’ve stayed here many times. New owners took over last year. They eliminated the breakfast buffet that had previously been included with the room. They painted the lobby an extremely dark color so the beautiful woodwork and architectural details of the lobby cannot be seen. Walking into the lobby is like walking into an underground tomb. It is so dark. Rooms have been updated but painted in very dark colors. Our bathroom sink had hair and dirt in it when we first arrived in our room.

We liked the place very much, except for two things. First, there was a lot of construction going on in our wing. That, coupled with the fact that there is only one elevator in the west wing, meant that it was tough to get an elevator. We took stairs a lot. The designers of the new wing choose to put in a single elevator for probably 80 guest rooms (guessing), housekeeping and utility use. Bad choice. Also, the room in the new wing was rather small... a standard featureless USA modern hotel room. But the main lobby is beautiful and the people were very nice. Great location too. We like Walla Walla.

We stayed in the newer wing which is being renovated. Our rooms were seemingly newly refurbished AND were still off-gassing carpet and materials smells. Fans were running in the hallways to ventilate the space. The new rooms are nicely appointed and include pour over coffee setups. Once the paint dries, these rooms will be very nice.
Service was less sparkly. The front desk was slightly chaotic and check in took longer than usual. In the bar, the service was similarly chaotic. Despite a number of servers, we struggled to get served correctly. Items and requests were overlooked or forgotten. They comped our drinks and acknowledged their struggles, but it left a lot to be desired, considering the prices and setting.
We’ll likely return, but this wasn’t their best showing.

We stayed in a tower suite at this beautiful, historic hotel. Very nice to have a bedroom and a sitting room but the furniture and bathroom fixtures are looking a bit tired. Bed was very comfortable and enjoyed the big bathroom/shower. Rooms do have mini fridges, but no microwaves to heat up a cup of coffee or the wonderful leftovers from terrific Walla Walla restaurants. LOVED lingering in the historic lobby by the fireplace and the front desk staff was very personable.

Jonathan gave us the warmest welcome and introduction to the hotel and area. Love the lobby- old school elegance. Room was beautifully appointed, everything about it was high qualiy!

Adorable vintage motif, very friendly staff

Minor thing= when taking the ice bucket looking for ice, I saw a sign on the wall that said ice on 5th and 7th floors. When I went to floor 5, there was the ice machine, with another sign that said ice on 6th floor, while I was looking at an ice machine. How long have employees been walking past that sign and not saying something? Otherwise a great stay. Thanks

Great room and location. They are remodeling but still have a bar open in the lobby.

Great location, excellent staff, beautiful lobby area. Rooms are fine but in need of a refresh. Mattress and pillows could be improved as well.

This hotel is beautifully decorated for the holidays. Had to stay in the newer section, which sounds better, but this is a classic historic hotel and we did not get that experience. The bed was not comfortable.

the restaurant was closed for renovations. I was told pastries and juice, and coffee would be available, the only pastries were plain, very stale croissant.

The age and history of the Whitman Hotel. It is a beautiful building. Christmas decor could have been more upscale.

The Whitman is central to Walla Walla and very convenient for walking, enjoying the wine tasting rooms and shops.

Was fine. Asked for a quiet room on the highest floor possible and was put on the second floor next to the elevator. Was loud at all hours of the night, and our sleep was bad as a result. Maybe that was the only room. Idk. Seemed like a lot of money for a lame room. Bed was comfy tho.

The acoustics are terrible!
You could listen to every toilet on your floor and the floor above being flushed the entire night, which kept me fully awake because they were extremely loud :(
It also didn’t help that the card readers are tricky to use and guest were frustrated when opening their guestroom doors and made a lot of noise on the corridor right across from me very late at night.

Parking was a problem for us. The tub area should have something to hold on to getting in and out of that high tub. The bench at the end of the bed should have something light colored on it so you don't trip over it during the night. The pillows sucked. And worse of all the restraunt was NOT open.

Beautiful hotel with Old Era charm, great service, excellent location, and clean comfortable rooms. All you could ask for!
A little remodeling going on but not so inconvenient with all the other local amenities.

We were asked to evacuated on the 2 nd day of our 3 day trip. We were told there was a gas leak and could not return to our room to retrieve our belongings. After hours of no information we were finally sent to another less comfortable hotel which we had to pay for. Now being told Expedia should reimburse us for the night we did not stay there.

It was perfect and we loved the free drink tix!

Check in and check out was easy, staff was amazing for almost every interaction. We dined in the restaurant once for breakfast and the food was quite good. There were a couple things that were a bit frustrating though. The rooms are quite tired and our room in the tower was noisy due the road noise. For the cost per night, I am not sure the rooms are really worth it. The property has some nice common areas but overall, the room was not quite what I expected. The pillows on the bed were tiny (like half normal size) and hard and the mattress was not very comfortable.

Great location, easily walkable to downtown restaurants, shopping, and tasting rooms. Room in the new wing is basic but clean and serviceable,

Our room fridge was very loud, like the motor was going out! I would usually give it a five star. But not this time

We love the Whitman! Great breakfast and fun bar!

Wonderful place to stay.
However, their breakfast voucher has changed since my last visit. It covers $15 which is the price of a meal. Food only.
It isn’t enough to cover a cup of coffee. I was charged an extra fee for coffee.
For such a nice hotel, this is a very petty policy. It does not reflect the quality service which existed before the new owners took over. Very sad.

The accomodations were top notch, service and staff were very friendly and professional.

They got rid of their free breakfast buffet. Kind of disappointing. If you have more than one person in your room, plan on eating breakfast elsewhere.
