Great place, very comfortable. Location was great for us, short drive to our destination. Very friendly staff, easy to talk to and share thoughts.
Breakfast was a real one, not a buffet that you get at all the chain hotels.
Dinner was high quality and the fillet medallions were some of the best I've ever had.
Thank you for a wonderful stay, hope to see you again.

This hotel is from 1890. You feel like you have stepped back n time with modern conveniences. We stayed in Washington Suite.
We ate dinner in the restaurant and food was high end and wonderful. We had scallops and shrimp pasta.

We loved everything about this hotel. The staff, the food, the historic atmosphere and the kitty colony.

Loved everything about it; location, felt safe,
The owners went above and beyond to give us everything we needed or wanted. That included ice for our cooler every day.
The breakfast was the best I'd had in a long time. Especially the French toast and scrambled eggs.
It was well above my expectations.
Will definitely stay there when in the area again.

The Lafayette is both a well-preserved and maintained historical property and high-quality restaurant. Having both of these things in one place is fantastic. My husband and I stayed overnight (celebrating our anniversary), ate dinner at the restaurant and then had breakfast there too (included in the cost of our room). It was so convenient to eat at the best restaurant in town and then head to our room…in the same building. I don’t believe I’ve ever stayed anywhere before where a high-quality, cooked-to-order sit-down restaurant breakfast was included complimentarily with the (very reasonable) cost of the room, but that was the case here. In addition to the accommodations and food being excellent, so was the service—everyone we met was so pleasant. Our server at the restaurant during dinner was particularly friendly (and very attentive).
On top of it all, the inn is conventionally located close to the Shenandoah National Forest and a huge number of wineries. It’s a perfect weekend getaway and the surrounding countryside is gorgeous. Our room was very clean, and the bed was comfortable. Would recommend for sure.

Excellent, quiet place to stay, with a friendly staff. Then, in the morning - fantastic breakfast that you can choose from four options, all made fresh, is included in the stay. Highly recommend.

I really enjoyed my stay at Lafayette. the Wilson suite was comfy, food was very good - the breakfast omelettes are HUGE! - and the owners were very welcoming and gracious. I would definitely return for another stay when visiting Shenandoah National Park!

We stayed overnight convenient to Harrisonburg to attend two days of our granddaughter’s graduation ceremonies.
Unfortunately we had to leave before breakfast.
Tyler would be improved by two things, a 60” TV on the mantle in the bedroom and improved lighting in the sitting room to enable newspaper and books to be read.

We stayed in the Dicey Cabin. It was roomy and clean. The only thing we would have added would be blackout blinds for the bedroom. Otherwise great stay, wonderful breakfast.

We had car troubles and we’re not able to make our reservation. I called and explained our situation, and said I know that we were past the refund date, but if there was anything they could do, that would be great. I also asked if I could get a call back to let me know what their decision was ( I did speak with a person when I called, I didn’t just leave a message) I never received a call back. That is why a terrible review. I would not have left a bad review had they called back and told me there was nothing they could do. But not returning a call when specifically asked for a call back is very poor customer service. I’m sure that lack of service from upper management flows to all service below them.

Wonderful and lovely Inn with super friendly hosts. Always concerned about your wellbeing and wanting to make your stay perfect. The room was so beautiful, lots of antique furniture and with decorations matching the style of the room. We had our own entrance, which was fancy somehow. The bed was very comfy and the room had 2 heaters, which were totally enough to get the room to a cozy temperature. By checking in the host went with us, showed us the room and left us a little bottle of champagne and some snacks for the evening - that made our arrival really special and nice! We ate at their own restaurant that evening and it was very tasty (costs extra). They had delicious apple pie as dessert. For breakfast (included) you could choose between French toast, different dishes made out of egg, bacon and 2 different sorts of potatoes. I had French toast and it was also delicious. Overall our short stay was the best we had at our roadtrip so far.
And if you have little time left you should go to the local pottery store Noon Whistle Pottery (it's about 200m down the road). It sells beautiful, handmade pottery, gifts and artwork. Totally worth a visit!

We had a nice suite with a comfortable sitting room in addition to the bedroom. Bath was updated. Breakfast comes with the room. We had over easy eggs one morning and omelets the next. Eggs were high quality. Meals were delicious and pleasantly presented. Table clothes, flowers on the tables. Period china. all very elegant. Owners are charming. Will stay out of your way or chat as you wish. We will go back when we are in the neighborhood.

Arrived at the hotel late, but my key to my room was not put out as they said they would. There was one key under another family name. Guessing they may have mixed up my name; we went into the room to see that it was previously slept in and no one cleaned it. There was no one answering the phone so I had to book another hotel in Charlottesville. The Lafayette Inn would not refund even though there was no room or clean room to stay in.

Owner/manager was i accommodating and rude and more interested in catering to a wedding party he was hosting that hotel guests. The room was so filthy that we ended up leaving: cobwebs around the bed and around the baseboards and heater, dusty floors, dirty carpet that haven’t been vacuumed in a while, mold in the shower and big brownish stain on the ceiling above the bed.
We stayed in the Washington Suite which not only dirty and clearly unsanitary but also very poorly insulated and noisy as we could hear cars driving by as though the windows were open.
Terrible experience!

The staff was courteous and helpful. They are, admittedly, understaffed but are taking care of their clientele. The room was excellent, the food also. God willing, we shall return.
