About this house rental
Originally an Inn, this is now a large waterfront home on a peaceful island
This is a large waterfront home on the peaceful island of Vinalhaven, Maine. Guests love the large sunporch as well as the hiking within steps at Lanes Island Preserve. Walk to town in just minutes. We are pet friendly but we do ask our guests to leave the property as clean as possible.
Take the Ferry from Rockland to Vinalhaven. The home is on the water just a short walk from the Ferry.
Also note that this is a "3 season cottage" with no central heat. This is why it's only available for rent during late spring and summer, when the temperature is perfect from the ocean breeze.

The location of this home is the #1 reason to stay here - a beautiful view from the porch, water views from every window, proximity to the Layne island preserve. The home is definitely rustic as described in the listing. We didn't mind this but found that the home could have been cleaner - dishes were dusty, there were corner cobwebs with some spiders, etc. However, the beds were comfortable and linens were clean. Overall, a positive stay. Vinalhaven is beautiful and peaceful.

This is a rambling, welcoming old building that is perfect for a family stay. Check-in is smooth, the kitchen is well stocked with utensils etc, wi fi was good. I must say it is not what I would call an easy walk from the ferry, so older people, little kids, and people with heavier luggage should be aware of this. Otherwise the house is really convenient to the stores and restaurants of Vinalhaven and have a great view of the water. The dining area is a real plus! There is also a downstairs toilet that doesn't show up on the description. This is our second time renting it, so need I say more?

Bridgeside is a wonderful location - beautiful water views front, side, and back. Nature abounds here! There were twelve in our group. This house was comfy and cozy. We loved our time on Vinalhaven!
