I had a great stay at Alfresco Phuket Hotel. The rooms were always clean, and housekeeping refreshed everything every single day, which I really appreciated. The staff were incredibly helpful and consistently professional — they always made me feel welcome.
This is already my third year in a row booking this hotel, and that says everything. Their hospitality is truly the best.

The hotel's strengths lie in its excellent location—it is genuinely close to everything—and the room size was decent and adequate. However, these positives are completely overshadowed by restrictive policies that severely compromise guest convenience and comfort.
Major Inconveniences Encountered:
1. The Single Key and Power Cut Policy
Despite booking and paying for two guests, we were only provided with one room key. This key is mandatory to operate all room electricity via a slot near the door. This policy led to constant, major issues:
No Charging While Away: Removing the key immediately shuts off all power outlets, the AC, and the refrigerator. This means you cannot charge essential devices (laptops, power banks, cameras) while you are out of the room.
Inability to Leave Independently: If one person was resting, the other could not leave and take the key, as the electricity and AC would immediately shut off on the person remaining in the room.
While I understand the hotel's desire to save on electricity, this method heavily penalizes guests who have paid for their stay and expect basic conveniences, like being able to keep items cool or charge devices securely while away.
2. Excessive Visitor Fee
The visitor policy is unreasonably restrictive and overpriced. As we had already booked and paid for two guests (the room's max capacity), we were told we could not have any visitors unless we paid an excessive fee of 650 Baht.
Charging this amount is excessive for any visit, especially if the visitor only intended to stay for an hour or less. While an overnight fee is understandable for cheap accommodation, this policy feels like an exploitative barrier to guest hospitality.
Conclusion and Value
The hotel offers a good base location, but the constant inconvenience caused by the single key/power-cut rule and the exorbitant visitor fee severely detract from the value of the stay.
Recommendation: Considering all the frustrating inconveniences this hotel will put you through, I would strongly advise that you should not pay more than $35 AUD per night for this accommodation.
