Obsessed with this ryokan. We stayed in 4 hotels over the course of our Japan trip, and this was by far the most memorable experience. The ryokan rooms are spacious with private bathrooms. The futons and duvets are so comfortable. The duvets were a standout: fluffy and light. Then, the gender-divided onsens were wonderful to experience. We were lucky, as every time we went, no one else was using the onsen, so it basically felt like a private onsen. Location wise, it is a 15 min walk from Kyoto station, making it super accessible. Lastly, the staff were absolutely incredible. This ryokan is run by a family: Yayoi (mom), Chika (daughter), and Kenji (brother). Special shoutout to Nakai as well. They gave us the best experience, constantly checking in on our experience and greeting us with so much warmth. We can’t wait to come back to this ryokan. We also recommend getting the kaiseki meal to try local and seasonal ingredients prepared with care

Staff were extremely kind and accommodating, went out of their way to help us! Room was very clean and it was nice to experience a traditional Japanese ryokan. The Japanese breakfast was also excellent!

We like everything from the staff being so friendly and helpful, they respond quickly to my queries before our trip. We paid breakfast one day and oh my, what an experience for myself and my daughter. We loved the public bath too. Location is 10minute walk from Kyoto station. Thank you for everything :)

The staff was very friendly and welcoming. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The rooms are traditional Japanese style rooms with tatami mats and futons (which were surprisingly comfortable) and the rooms were spacious. The bathrooms were compact, but well equipped. Facility has a washer and dryer available. Also has two public baths, one with a garden view that is very peaceful. Rooms have a mini fridge, Japanese tea, and a sweet treat each night. The Ryokan is located across from a temple, close to some beautiful gardens, and a 6 minute walk to Kyoto station. It was also only about a 25 minute walk to Gion. Highly recommend if you are looking for a traditional Japanese experience in a great location.
I wouldn't really call this a negative as I knew what to expect, however, it took come getting used to not having a chair or something to sit on in the room. If you have mobility issues, this may not be a great option as the only place to sit is on the floor.
