Very chill and nice place! Good if you want to do kitesurfing!

Very nice and chill vibe! Loved the atmosphere in the resort. And that you’re allowed to use the pool from the neighbouring property. The breakfast is truly amazing!

It‘s very close to the lagoon but when you want to get to the beach, it‘s a very long walk. Also it‘s not so close to the city but that’s just how it is in Kalpitiya I guess.

Honest review

Super nice team and manager. Good kite teachers. Clean. Complementary water. Nice bar for evening gatherings. Volleyball field.

But as an honest review: 1. It is overpriced for Sri lanka 2. They add 100% service charge on the booking price, which is almost criminal. So will be highlighted to booking. (it only appears to be way cheaper in the listings compared to others) 3. It is really basic. The only upside is the nice team, without it would be a clear 4/10. (in relation to the price)

Superb

Run by very friendly and welcoming people and staff. Great location for kite surfing, located directly at the lagoon. Delicious food at the buffet but also a la cart possible. All in all a great stay.

Great value, Wonderful location and the best teachers for kitesurfing

The Cabana was perfect. Really big and pretty with a great little terrace and hammock. Bed was really comfortable and great shower. Staff amazing and attentive and delicious food

everything was great, especially the kite surfing. The guys were brilliant and helpful and in a short few classes had us all up and running and even jumping. Could not recommend more for a beginner or someone trying to up their game

The DeSilvaWind- Resort is an absolutly amazing place, the staff is totally grandiose and helpful ( Nawi, we fell in love with you!!) We enjoyed a loveley week there, having kite- lessons and Ayurveda massages. We can defenitely recommend this place. It is a pity that there are -at the moment- only a few tourist in Sri Lanka. We travelled around the Island for four weeks and didn't have any bad experience - as reported in the medias. We felt save and caringly accompanied all the time.Sri Lanka is an amazing place, thank you for hosting us.

The place is very quite and natural. So many palm trees around. The swimming pool is very refreshing and I liked the surfer style a lot. The Chillout Terrace is amazing with a really good view over the lagoon. As I had to work I needed very good Wifi connection which was just newly installed by the owner. So for work and travel really perfect!

De Silva is your Kitesurfing destination in Kalpitiya

My trip to Sri Lanka, Kalpitiya was purely for Kitesurfing. Hence I have chosen best Team in this area to make my Kitesurfing holidays special. I spent in De Silva resort over 1 month in total. Absolutely fantastic atmosphere, great bar, kind and helpful staff, always with positive energy and smile. Special thanks to Nalika, she was always happy to help and support. If you need anything from arranging bus/ taxi to visit for example Sigiriya (Lion Rock); Kandy, Ella or wish to take Kitesurfing private lesson, rent kite equipment, need Sri Lanka SIM card ask for Nalika straightaway. She will fix this for you. Extremely kind person. De Silva has 2 resorts, the main one with the bar which is located just in front of the big lagoon. Including the main restaurant and chill area with WiFi. Most social life is happening in this resort, hence I would recommend to select this option. The second resort is approximately 10 minutes walk. With great and modern swimming pool. If you prefer more quiet place with less people this is your destination. Just bear in mind, there is no restaurant there. Meaning you will have to walk 3 times per day to Main (1st resort), it's only 10 minutes walk so should not be a problem. The biggest advantage of De Silva is the team who knows Kitesurfing, they are North distributor. Hence they do have North Kitesurfing equipment - NEW collection, as well the shop. I bought myself New North Kite "Orbit". To get good price speak with the owner - Upul. Super friendly person with huge sense of humour. I am sure you will get good offer. Now for anyone thinking about travelling by Train from Kandy to Ella. Take 1st class and don't even think about 2nd or 3rd. I went by 3rd class. It was Independence day in Sri Lanka. It was disaster! The train was packed. I was not able to move literally!! I felt like a canned sardine!! By the end of the journey the engine of the locomotive broke down.

Absolutely nothing! De Silva met all my expectations!!

If you are planning your Kitesurfing holidays in Kalpitiya like me. De Silva should be your destination. They have all Kitesurfing equipment you need (brand new Noth Kites) plus service in case something would happen with your kite. The boat will take you straight from the resort into Big lagoon. Everything is well and professionally organized. Special thanks goes to the owner Upul, Kathy and Upul right hand Nalika 😉 as well entire De Silva Crew for making my stay fantastic. All my needs and expectations were fullfield. Always get the help I needed. The friendly attitude of the staff makes De Silva unique place on the map of Kalpitiya for Us Kitesurfers. I strongly recommend to take the food from the bar - Al carte menu. Grilled prawns - 1650 RS; Grilled Tuna Steak 1600 RS, Grilled Cuttlefish 1475 RS or De Silva Sandwich 750 RS. As a guest you also have free access to 2nd De Silva resort with beautiful and modern swimming pool. Strongly recommend to check this 😉 as well. At Kalpitiya you kite on the main big lagoon, but just on the opposite side you have the Ocean! De Silva will organise for you downwind in the Ocean with the safety boat behind you for double security and your own comfort. Swimming in the Ocean is great activity too for your cardio. This is my 1st visit in Sri Lanka, but for sure not the last.

Common areas, good location and the restaurant service

The prices were really high for Sri Lankan standard, sometimes the staff was not too friendly and really busy. The room was open in the upper part and several animal were entering during the night and morning, but the net was covering bed. Kite surfing lessons were nice but in the last day I was not followed by the instructor but from one of the assistants because there were too many people. I did not fully understand what I was doing wrong and I didn’t make any progress from the previous lesson.

Excellent Kitesurfing-Resort

Perfect location for Kitesurfing in Kalpitiya. New equipment, good kite-instructors and super nice staff who helped with every request we had and showed great flexibility. Great food and good drinks! We really enjoyed our stay and will definitively come back!! Dolphin Tours and National Park Visits, Snorkeling, SUP, Swimming Pool, Volleyball, Slackline and more for no wind days.

Amazing spot if you want to do kitesurfing and nothing else

The place has a very chill vibe and is right next to the lagoon, so as soon as the wind comes, you can be on your way to kitesurf. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Kathy was very responsive in helping schedule my stay and also answer any questions I had along the way. And Nalika is very dependable! If you want something done, go to her and be assured it will be taken care of. The chill area in front of the bar is great for socializing. Rooms were clean.

The resort is quite remote and removed from everything. Nothing much to do on days without wind. Bathrooms and dining area are rife with insect life (mosquitoes, flies, spiders, geckos), although I think this is more to do with how that entire location is and not just the resort itself. Prices were kind of on the higher side for what you are getting in return, especially for the day trips. Room for improvement as far as value for money is concerned, but I should clarify that all places in that area seem to have similar pricing.

On the first day , i was impressed ,it was an unforgettable experience from the start to the finish the staff treated us with their warmest smiles.The food was fresh and delicious.
