About this house rental

Nestled in Cushing, this lovely house for $728 per night is a fantastic choice for your next break. Three Sisters Farm is a classic Mid-coast Maine farmhouse lovingly restored with high-end amenities for the ideal city getaway. Located a short walk to the water in Friendship, Maine, our farm features large, bright, airy rooms, 5 bedrooms, 2 living areas, 2 fully stocked kitchens and a designated workspace on 11 beautiful acres. Come enjoy the ocean and idyllic nature reserves from your own private world. A perfect retreat to relax, adventure, or simply enjoy a peaceful setting for remote work. The space Built in 1850, Three Sisters Farm has been owned primarily by the same family ever since. Secluded, serene and chic, the home has been fully remodeled and updated with everything you need for the ideal Maine getaway. Enjoy comfortable, open interiors surrounded by spruce forests, blackberry and blueberry bushes, and a pristine salt water estuary. The house offers two well-stocked kitchens with commercial grade oven and ranges, spices, cast iron pans, Riedel wine glasses, etc., in addition to several lovely sitting and dining areas. There is one first-floor bedroom off the great room with a full-sized bed and nearby half bath. The second floor, where most of the bedrooms are, is accessed by two different sets of stairs. The primary bedroom is located up a steep antique-style stairway with a king-sized bed and an en suite bath. Just outside the primary bedroom, you’ll find a twin bed and crib (perfect for kids who appreciate being close to a parent). A second stairway leads to two more bedrooms, one with a queen bed and one with both a double bed and a twin trundle bed. These rooms share a lovely large bathroom, complete with clawfoot tub. Adjacent to the dining room is a cozy screened-in porch, with comfortable furniture and a smart TV. A nearby gravel terrace has amenities for outdoor cooking and dining or just relaxing in the lounge chairs. There is also a solo stove fire pit if s'mores are calling your name! Off the great room is a charming barn area, complete with kayaks, paddleboard, bikes, a barn swing overlooking the farm, a ping-pong table, and other outdoor games. Also, new in 2022, we have converted the upstairs loft into a yoga studio/gym/relaxation room. This space is quickly becoming one of our favorite spots to hang out! When you’re ready to explore, enjoy a short 1/2 mile walk to the salt water estuary – a perfect location for kayaking, swimming, bird watching, crabbing, boating and fishing as well as many other water activities. The property is near numerous nature preserves with beautiful hikes through coastal flats as well as more ambitious hikes inland in the Camden Hills. The farm has heat for the colder seasons, window air-conditioning units in summer, and brand new washer/dryers. Friendship, where the farm is located, is an unspoiled lobstering village - you can’t get fresher seafood! There’s one general store in town (well stocked with groceries, yummy prepared foods, and a nice selection of craft beer, wine and liquor), as well as an antique shop, kayak rentals, a tiny museum, several open artists' studios, and local farm stands offering fresh produce. As mentioned, 25-30 minutes north you’ll find the Rockland/ Rockport/Camden area with award-winning restaurants, art museums, and the schooner fleet. Camden is the self-described Jewel of the Maine coast: a haven for ocean lovers, shoppers and outdoor adventurers. Rockland is host to numerous summer festivals, a world-class art museum, and is the port for most of the island ferries. Fabulous Monhegan island can be reached for a wonderful daytrip by boats in nearby New Harbor or Port Clyde. Hiking and mountain climbing can be found in the Camden Hills, with pristine lakes and good blueberry picking mid to late summer. Coastal nature preserves offer exploration even closer to home. In the winter, the Camden Snow Bowl provides uncrowded local skiing 30 minutes from your door. Mid-coast Maine has much to offer both in scenic beauty and cultural attractions, and locally, the Friendship peninsula is a great place to unwind and enjoy tranquility, fresh local seafood and the fishing/ farming culture. Guest access Guests have access to all parts of the property except the boat barn and windmill across the road (we cannot guarantee their structural integrity). Other things to note Kids of all ages will love this Farm! If you’re traveling with young ones, we offer a crib, two highchairs, baby gates, and children’s dishes available for use. We also have plenty of toys, blocks and books to make your life easier! Outside there are 11 acres of freshly mowed lawn, pasture and woods waiting to be explored and the deep tub in the shared bath (or the outside shower!) makes cleaning up afterwards a delight. In the winter we provide sleds for enjoying on the sledding hill across the street and in summer please feel free to use the provided kayaks, bikes, double-stroller and lawn games! Well-equipped kitchens include everyday and fine china, an espresso maker, Riedel wine glasses, cast iron pans, le creuset cookware, commercial stoves, and everything you will need to host large or small gatherings. There is one main stairway, and a second stair leading to the master bedroom and children's room. Both are steep by modern standards, particularly the second stair. In addition, the second bed in the nursery is not appropriate for very young children as they could potentially climb/fall into the stairwell. Housekeeping can be arranged for longer stays as well as lobster delivery! Come enjoy all mid-coast Maine has to offer, or just enjoy your own private Maine enclave! Welcome to Three Sisters Farm!!
