Strong recommend avoiding this property due to various cleanliness and insect issues.

I booked Emerald Hill Cottage for 12 nights (22 December to 3 January) and arrived on 22 December to drop off luggage before visiting family nearby. Upon entering and inspecting the property, I was shocked by the level of uncleanliness. The bathroom had large spider webs (up to 4 feet) with live spiders between the bath and basin. In the bedroom, dried flowers hanging from the ceiling were covered in webs and crawling with spiders. The loft area had gecko droppings scattered across the floor and beds. The kitchen floor showed crushed insects, dirt buildup indicating it had not been mopped in months, and random newspapers lying around. Additionally, the fridge was warm and functioned only intermittently, as acknowledged by the host. The property also appeared to be under ongoing construction, with the host mentioning completion was still 2 years away. Due to these conditions, my wife and I decided not to stay. We left the same day without unpacking or using the facilities, secured our belongings to prevent insects entering, and departed with the key left in the door. We immediately contacted Booking.com for assistance with cancellation and refund. Despite multiple attempts by Booking.com to reach the hosts and my own follow-up messages requesting a full refund (since no nights were used), no refund has been provided as of 5 January. The hosts claimed we had stayed multiple days, which is incorrect – we had to book and pay for alternative accommodation nearby for the entire period. While the location is convenient, the severe cleanliness issues, unfinished state, and lack of resolution make this property unsuitable. I strongly advise potential guests to choose a different accommodation to avoid similar disappointment and financial loss.

Garden setting, shops are a fairly short, safe walk away, and the neighbourhood is safe to run/walk around in.

The kitchen wasn't properly kitted with crockery and pans. The fireplace was tricky to operate. There were noisy things hitting the roof loudly on the windy nights. The lighting is dim.
