About this cottage rental
Experience the charm of Little Shovel Lakehouse in North East, PA—just a short walk from Lake Erie and perfectly situated near the region’s renowned wine country. This 1920s cottage blends historic character with modern comfort, including central air and high‑speed Wi‑Fi.
The 3‑bed, 2‑bath layout includes two first‑floor bedrooms (full bed and two twin beds) and a full bathroom with a vanity area. The private second‑floor master suite features a king bed, ensuite bathroom, walk‑in closet, 55" smart TV, and access to a secluded rear deck. All linens, bath towels, and beach towels are provided.
The well‑appointed kitchen makes family meals easy, and the open‑concept living and dining areas create a welcoming space to relax together. Enjoy the wrap‑around sofa and 65" smart TV or gather for board games at the dining table.
Outdoor amenities include three decks with seating, an outdoor dining table, and a propane grill. A short walk across the street leads to the neighborhood park with access down to the lakefront—perfect for catching Lake Erie’s stunning sunsets. Your stay includes use of two double kayaks, two youth kayaks, and three tubes. Please note: the beach is rocky; water shoes or Crocs are recommended.

Public beaches include Freeport Beach (lifeguarded swimming, playground, volleyball), Fisherman’s Beach / 20 Mile Creek (State Park access and steelhead fishing), and Shades Beach (swimming and small boat launch). Presque Isle State Park—40 minutes west—offers sandy beaches, bike trails, lagoons for kayaking, and excellent fishing.
Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy hiking and biking at Eaton Reservoir/Bulls Dam, Wintergreen Gorge, Six Mile Creek Park, and Presque Isle.

This is the best place to stay in North East! Super, super clean, accommodating hosts, easy to find. They even have a nice welcome basket for you as well as coffee and snacks. Answer all questions quickly. We love it there and are looking forward to staying again in the spring. 5 stars is not enough!!!!! Decor is great too, great beds, well equip. I could go on! Thanks so much for your hospitality!

Great place for friends and family to hang and sit back and relax. Hosts provided supplies above and beyond and were great for communicating. We especially loved the fire on the beach.
