It was a low-frills room but clean, comfortable, and dark enough. Tap water was not delicious, water pressure strange. It was cool staying in a really old inn! I liked the ambiance and had a good night of sleep.

Great little inn and and a great deal as well having 2 bedrooms for less than the price of one at bigger hotels was amazing for the 4 of us

The room was warm and welcoming. It was in good condition. Easy self check in and out. Restaurant was great and food was delicious.

The Inn was great! A little older but had great charm! Staff was very friendly and helpful! Sat at the bar and visited, didn’t eat at the restaurant but the food looked and smelled delicious!

Great room for the price. Owner was very nice and welcoming. The restaurant was great.

Our experience at the Inn was remarkable. If you are looking for a central place to go and explore the area, this is it. The owners and the staff were exceptional. Anything that we needed was addressed immediately. The food at the attached restaurant was second to none. The Independence Inn has old world charm and New World management which makes it the perfect place to stay and enjoy the beautiful New Hampshire foliage or any of the many other interests that the area has to offer. I would recommend The Independence Inn to anyone. We hope to return again soon and look forward to seeing the owners again. Thank you all for your hospitality!

We liked the location which was close to an event we attended in Lee. The restaurant Heartwood was nice, the service was great as was the food. The "contactless" check-in was easy.
However, the service at the Inn was non-existent. When we arrived I checked out the kitchenette as it was for use by all the guests but it was sorely lacking supplies On arrival, there were three bagels on a covered tray and the stock of coffee and tea was low. The next morning none of the amenities had been restocked. The bagels were still sitting there from the day before and nothing fresh had been added. Some of the guests used the last of the coffee. There was a coffee maker in our room but no coffee. I texted the innkeeper and asked them to bring some. I never got a response and no one ever showed up to restock or clean. The trash in the kitchenette looked like it hadn't been emptied in over a day. There were no paper towels and the toaster and microwave needed to be cleaned. We toasted one of the bagels and the toaster oven started to smoke from all the crumbs in it. Our room was clean but the fridge had remnants of food/trash from previous guests in it. The lack of response or even the presence of the Innkeeper or any staff was concerning.

Tucked away in a rural area back in the woods. Tranquil surroundings. This is a very rustic but very cute establishment. I couldn't participate in any activities they offered or eat at the restaurant. I stayed "one night," checked in around 2 AM & checked out around 8 AM. I highly recommend trying this place if you're not looking for a hot breakfast, pool, fitness center, etc... or the high cost of a hotel with all the amenities you probably won't use. The bathroom is very small. The shower is tiny but adequate for one person.

Great property easy check in check out. No coffee to be found, but there was 1/2 and 1/2 and bagels to cook . Rooms were clean and comfy

When we drove into the lot, I understood why there were no refunds!! The flower beds were full of weeds, there was junk under the steps, siding broken, grass needed cutting, cushions on the wicker furniture were out in the rain, an old refrigerator taped shut standing in the back yard, junk piled up in the basement that could be seen thru the window, doors wide open without a screen door!!! The bathroom was so tiny, you had to shut the door to use the sink. It's a 200 year old building and it shows! Way overpriced. Apparently there was a common space upstairs, but no one told us. We never did see it. We did eat in the restaurant and food was delicious, drinks were very good. If we could have cancelled and got a refund, we would have!!!

Vey cute little Inn. Not much around, which can be nice because it’s quiet.

Great Inn that we will be staying at again!

Over all very cozy. Good place for our family to crash at night. It was very self serve in one way with putting sheets on the extra beds, but the staff took the time to fire up the ACs for us, so it was nice and cool on a hot summer evening. Room was clean, but the fridge was missed when cleaning out and a dirty cloth was missed in the tub...these things happen sometimes! We would definitely come back to this inn and explore the area again if opportunity comes up.

Very clean and comfortable room. Lovely furnished property, both inside and outside. Very peaceful surroundings. One of the owners was there in the morning and he was very hospitable, showing us around and sharing information. There were board games to play as well as a piano. Lovely place to stay!

The innkeeper was extremely irresponsible, assuring us two months in advance that we’d have a 1pm early check-in and then not following through. The day of our check in she didn’t have our room ready until close to 3pm. So we had to drive around and find things to do for a couple hours.
The king bed in room 4 is the hardest and most uncomfortable bed I’ve ever slept in, and two days later my back still hurts from it. Also, my wife and I both woke up in a pool of sweat because the window AC unit wasn’t blowing full blast. We turned it all the way up and it eventually cooled the room down. Also, there’s no comforter on the bed.
The best thing about our stay was the friendliness of our server, the co-owners and the chefs. The ground brisket burger was the best burger I’ve ever had. My wife also really enjoyed and was impressed with the butter chicken. Kudos to the new chefs and great service from all involved that evening!

We booked this for a one night stay on our way to Maine. On Hotels.com a child is 0-17. My youngest is 16, and 6’0. The room we were given was the Luxury room. It was said to be appropriate for three people. Unless you have a very small child, this is definitely not the case. My son was stuck on a tiny couch and there were no extra blankets or anything. I text to ask if there were extra blankets and received no response. He had a very miserable night. The joint kitchen type area was full of fruit flies due to the rotting bananas that were there. We avoided that at all costs. The actual bed was comfortable at least. This is not a place we would book in the future.

My family and I stayed here for 4 days and we absolutely adored this place. Let’s just say every time we went out somewhere, we wanted to just come back to independence inn. It felt like home! It was the most relaxing vacation we’ve had. Will definitely be coming back in the near future.

Helpful innkeeper (on phone; we didn't meet), easy entry, and nice big room with a larger mini-fridge and freezer. But there were some problems. The big one is that the pillows and sheets smelled terrible. I'm sure the sheets were clean and laundered (though the pillows maybe should be washed), but the noxious scent made it very difficult to sleep. Maybe a rinse with bleach or borax when laundering would take care of it.
Otherwise: the king mattress in the deluxe double room is not very comfortable. Some light bulbs might need replacing, and some window screens and handles for opening windows need maintenance.

Room was small but nice. Had a private bath. My room had a small sofa where my little one was comfortable sleeping. Would stay again.

Easy check in and the room was nice and clean.

The room booked said it had 2 separate bedrooms you would assume it would have 2 separate beds. Don't assume that. You have to set up the bed in the "second" bedroom. They also couldn't even put in a full roll of toliet paper in the bathroom. On the positive side it was very clean. I don't feel like it was a good value for what they charged.

This was only a one night stay, so I don't have much to say, but it was clean and quaint, and I would definitely stay here again.

Everything was great! Super cute historic inn. The room was very nice and clean. Everything was contactless. We enjoyed our night.

The check in and check out process was all handled virtually. There was no one there to check us out.

This property was incredible. What the new owners are doing with the location to bring it back to life is fantastic. They personally greeted us when we arrived and had fantastic food! The rooms were comfortable and private! We would recommend this to anyone.

This 6 unit inn sits in a rural setting in southeast NH. What a hidden gem that is quaint and unique. We only decided to stay here because most hotels around Boston were either full or over $200 for the night.
What a pleasant and nice surprise to wrap up our two-week New England vacation. When I was booking lodging I kept seeking that quintessential New England Inn (like on Bob Newhart). I found a couple but this one takes the prize. Our room was tastefully decorated and clean. I loved that there was no TV. Only negatives were some nats around the air conditioner that needed cleaned up and the exterior and grounds could use some attention.
We did eat at the Inn. What a wise choice the seafood chowder was delicious and very filling. My wife had the meatball pita, the homemade meatballs had great flavor which the feta cheese enhanced. Thankfully they weren't overpowered with marinara sauce. The only disappointment was the side salad which consisted only of spring greens. I know they locally source most of there food but some shredded carrots and cukes would have been nice.
We also ordered some drinks. i can say they had the best prices of any where we visited. There was also live music which made the evening even better.
This is a perfect place for a couple to get away for a night or a weekend, or if you're just passing through. Take the road less travel and leave the chains behind...and give the Independence Inn a try. As a small business they'll appreciate it.

Amazing property! Beautiful linens, comfortable bed. Renovated beautifully! Small communal kitchen upstairs with coffee and cream! Yogurts and granola bars. Great place to stay!

A quaint little inn with a lot of heart. Lovingly restored with a conscious effort to honor the inn's historic past. The room was comfortable and quiet. We ate in the dining room which was having its grand--opening. The food was terrific. The acoustics not so great, but overall a cozy and wonderful experience. Highly recommended!

Check in was really easy and the room was adorable! We’re planning on coming back during the winter because I feel like this room would be super cozy in the winter!

Wonderful Historic Inn. Comfortable and very clean rooms. Beautiful common area, great staff, great food.
Plan to make this our go to place when we visit NH.

Stay was simple but good. Staff was all friendly. They have a diner inside as well … we didn’t eat there (just because we had other plans) but it looked very nice in that section. Overall a good experience and I would recommend this place to others.
