A simple thing but the pillows were square and very hard

Be aware, this accommodation is ‘real old France’! If you want a uniform, sanitised, formulaic night’s stay, this is not for you. From entering and ascending very steep stairs - in our case three floors up - to our room on very well trodden carpet, you are back in time to the days of old France. The room was clean and the bed large and exceptionally comfortable. There was a kettle and some types of tea bags & coffee but no ordinary breakfast tea or milk - just fyi. We had our own so not a problem, but just be aware. We ate at a newly opened restaurant La Mozart which was very good - portions are generous!!! The staff are lovely too.

Although this had been warned in previous reviews so it wasn’t a complete shock, the stairs are very steep and two flights between each floor - we were on the third, which wasn’t fun with three heavy bags! The room was clean and yet everything felt quite grubby because of the choice of old style tiles. This wasn’t the owner’s fault but sadly, during our one night, the fire alarm immediately outside our door went off three times during the night, so a restful night was not had. Apparently this has not happened before. We didn’t have breakfast so I can’t comment.

Staying at this hotel was a memorable experience. The room had period charm mixed with luxury, a comfortable bed and tea and coffee making facilities. The breakfast far exceeded my expectations. Scrambled eggs and bacon was something I have never had in a French hotel. The owners were extreemly pleasant and helpful in every way.I recommend this hotel above all others.

Great location quirky property.

Zero interaction with staff, they never responded about breakfast requests. We felt ignored.
