The apartment was lovely. The large living/dining area has an open fire, and picture windows with panoramic views up the Manchet valley. The kitchen is well equipped. The rest of the accommodation is compact but fine for four adults.
Poor communication from the two management companies involved: Poplidays usually told us to contact Val Agence with issues, Val Agence didn’t reply to emails.
Requests for additional payments after booking even though the original invoice stated everything included (e.g. bed linen an ‘optional extra’ at 580 euros per person; on challenging this we were given one set each included, but any changes in 2 weeks would have been charged. We also received a demand for additional taxes on arrival even though the invoice specifically said ‘taxes included’).
Large deposit (1000 euros) and warnings about
any minor damage being charged, but in fact the flat was a bit shabby, with burns and stains on the carpet, broken electric sockets, and lots of chips, marks and scratches. We took photos of all these on arrival otherwise we would probably have been charged.
The apartment was also dirty on arrival: the shower flooded as the outlet was blocked with hair, bins weren’t emptied, plates had been put away dirty, and there was rubbish under the beds. The vacuum cleaner was completely jammed with ash from the fire and not usable, so the floor was grubby.
None of this spoiled our holiday, but this is not a budget choice, and when paying >7.000 euros for 2 weeks in a small apartment you don’t expect to spend your first morning unblocking drains, clearing a blocked vacuum cleaner, and cleaning the floors and kitchen.
