Moose Tracks Cabin puts you at the end of a quiet road in Valley of the Sun, with 360-degree views of the Mosquito Range, a saltwater hot tub on the wraparound deck, and a wildlife wetland out the back door where moose, elk, and deer wander through on the regular.

This three-bedroom luxury log cabin is built for couples and small groups who want the mountains without sacrificing comfort. Floor-to-ceiling windows in the open-concept Great Room frame the Mosquito Range from every couch, dining chair, and counter stool. A stone-hearth gas fireplace anchors the upstairs living space; a basement entertainment room with corner bar, mini-fridge, leather seating, and large flat-screen TV gives the trip a second living space when weather closes in. Every bedroom has its own en-suite bath, no waiting in the morning. Starlink high-speed Wi-Fi keeps laptops working and streams flowing even at 11,148 ft. The wraparound deck steps directly to the saltwater hot tub. BLM land starts at the property line.

The Layout
* Loft Master Suite (Top Floor): King bed, en-suite bath, private balcony, large corner desk, woodland views from every window
* Red Room (Mid-Level): Queen bed, en-suite bath, corner closet, walkout deck access
* Black & White Room (Mid-Level): Queen bed, en-suite bath, corner closet, walkout deck access
* 3.5 Bathrooms - en-suite to each bedroom plus central mid-level half-bath
* Basement Entertainment Room: Corner bar with mini-fridge, leather seating, large flat-screen TV
* Home Office (Loft): Large corner desk
* Starlink high-speed Wi-Fi throughout the cabin
* Full-size in-home washer & dryer

The Wildlife
Moose Tracks Cabin lives up to its name. The property sits adjacent to a wetland in Valley of the Sun where moose, elk, deer, and foxes wander through on the regular - sometimes right up to the windows. Black bears pass through in summer. Early-October aspens turn the whole valley gold. Bring binoculars and a camera; you are staying in their living room.

Outside
The wraparound deck wraps the upper level with unbroken 360-degree views of the Mosquito Range and Valley of the Sun. A propane BBQ grill, comfortable seating, and the saltwater hot tub make the deck a destination in its own right. At 11,148 ft you will see stars you did not know existed - and from the property line you can walk straight onto BLM land for hiking, mining-cabin exploration, or just getting lost on purpose.

A Few Things to Know
* 11,148 ft in the Central Rockies - elevation and weather are worth considering. Natural mountain air keeps the home comfortably cool all summer - no air conditioning needed.
* Four-wheel drive with adequate snow tires or chains required November through May. The driveway is subject to snow drifting in winter - please notify the host promptly to have it cleared.
* Well water system; well water may have some variability in taste, smell, or mineral content depending on time of year and usage.
* Rural high-alpine mountain environment where wildlife, insects, and rodents may be encountered.
* Outdoor security cameras - exterior visual only, no audio, nothing inside the home.
* Vacation rental agreement signed at booking.

Beautiful, large, wood cabin with very impressive windows and a lovely deck. We really enjoyed our stay despite having a connectivity outage for a couple of days. The only caution is the elevation is over 11,000 ft so it is quite the change for people like us coming from sea level (Florida).

Beautiful cabin and location. Clean and well supplied with necessities. Great location! Peaceful and relaxing for the perfect Rocky Mountain getaway.
8 / 10Excellent·Jul 2025
My family and I stayed at the cabin for a little quiet time. It was nice. Some of the doors/locks are a little finicky and you have to get used to it. The 2 main doors to the deck werent allowed to be opened for some reason so this made it a little awkward getting in and out. The hot tub was a hit with the kids and was very nice. Would stay again if we ever decide on Fairplay as our vacation spot. The owners were very quick in their responses and the check-in process was seemless. Rating would be 4.5/5 if VRBO allowed.

The house is beautiful and clean but there is a really bad septic/gas smell in the house especially in the bathrooms. Would not recommend wearing an expensive bathing suit in the hottub either as it bleached out ours. If the smell and the hottub were fixed this place would have been perfect. Unfortunately we probably won’t stay again.
