Situated in South Bristol, this lovely house for $331 per night is a great choice for your next vacation. Ocean’s Edge sits up on a hill overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and Inner Heron Island in East Boothbay. It is an old cottage with Knotty Pine that has been lovingly restored by its present owners over the past 20 years. It is cozy and full of character and features spiral staircase and a fun kitchen for cooks updated with new cabinets, countertop, and sink. There are books throughout the house to read and a gas fireplace for chilly nights in the main living area with views of the ocean. The main cottage has beds for six with one full bed in the downstairs bedroom with a full bathroom (Bedroom 1), one queen bed in the upstairs bedroom (Bedroom 2), and a trundle bed in the common area upstairs along with a full bathroom. Please note that the trundle bed is not enclosed in a room and is situated in the open space at the top of the spiral staircase before entering the upstairs bedroom. From this common area, there is a deck with spectacular views of the Atlantic and an outdoor staircase that leads back to the first floor. The bunkhouse (Bedroom 3) has one full bed and a cushy chair and table. It can also easily double as a yoga studio or a quiet spot to read. The home is on King Phillips Trail surrounded by nature and sits on a two-mile loop that is perfect for walking, running, or biking. The west side of the loop features a working waterfront on Little River with wonderful afternoon sunlight reflecting off the water. It is a perfect getaway for families and couples who prefer to recharge in peace. Courtesy quiet hours start at 10 p.m. per local ordinance. Smoking is NOT permitted anywhere on the property.

Our stay was enjoyable . The view from the upper deck was like no other. Listening to the waves crash against the rocks was an extra bonus. Very relaxing . The area itself was very peaceful. We were close to everything. Nice area to walk

Used this house as a base to visit up and down the Maine coast. The views from the house were spectacular. The house is right on the Atlantic, and it was so peaceful to hear the waves crashing against the rocky shore all day and night. Made for a restful sleep. The interior was cozy and cottage-like. One caveat: this house is not for the ambulatory challenged. The spiral staircase to the upstairs master bedroom is steep and narrow. We had to carry our suitcases on the outside, up onto the deck, and then into the bedroom as there was no way to get a medium- or larger-sized suitcase up that spiral staircase. The house is located on a steep hill, which made parking, and entering/exiting our car, a bit difficult. The surrounding neighborhood was safe, tranquil, and beautiful. Lots of friendly neighbors out daily walking their dogs. The hosts were great. They promptly responded to our questions and responded to our needs.

Our family had a nice stay in the rustic bungalow. We had a couple of issues--nothing major--but property management was quick to respond and attempt to help. The kitchen was well appointed, but be ready to bring any and all bathroom amenities (shampoo, soap, etc) from home--which wasn't addressed in advertising. As others have stated in the reviews--the spiral staircase is not for anyone with mobility issues or even the faint of heart--so be very mindful when deciding who stays where. The house sits on a beautiful view and the location provides a great landing point to stay among the vast options of activities that Maine offers.

House was wonderful! Clean, welcoming and in a great location! Loved sitting on the balcony for leisurely mornings, pre-dinner cocktails and stargazing at night. . Enjoyed walking in the beautiful, peaceful neighborhood and spending the day a short drive away at Ocean Point Beach. House does have a lot of stairs so mobility issues could impede one’s enjoyment. But it worked for our family and we had a great time!

We rented this cottage for our first stay in Maine with our two young children. The neighborhood was perfection. We walked on the residential street everyday right by the water. The view from the balcony was gorgeous and so relaxing and the overall cottage felt like home. The property manager met us for check-in, gave us a quick tour and some suggestions of places we might try around town. We felt very welcomed. We felt very safe in this location and it was a short drive to most activities in Downtown Boothbay, but far enough to feel tucked away. A couple quick notes for anyone who might have mobility issues: the outdoor stairwell was easier to manuever as opposed to the tight spiral staircase indoors. Also, the house is atop a steep hill so just a heads up for parking and walking. We would definitely rent this place again.

Fantastic place to stay! Beautiful, quiet location within a short drive to many trails, restaurants, lighthouses, etc. Cottage had lots of room and character. We loved that it had personality and wasn’t like every other vacation rental. Kitchen was well stocked. Wendy was very responsive to the one small issue we had. Would definitely return to this property!
