Ruined Romantic Reunion, Maintenance & Pest Issues

I booked this property for a long-awaited reunion with my husband, who is in the Royal Navy and was returning from deployment. Unfortunately, our stay was completely ruined by poor maintenance, hygiene issues, and terrible host management. Upon arrival, the smell of raw sewage in the bathroom was nearly unbearable. While it lessened, the smell reoccurred whenever the shower or sink was running. On our second day, we discovered an ant infestation crawling over the floors and even across our bedding. We constantly cleaned and swept, yet when we reported this, the hosts blamed us, claiming it was due to sand inside the property. Despite blaming us, the owners came to and put an ant killer outside and performed an extra clean, proving there was a pest issue. The bathroom door was broken, leaving zero privacy. The bedroom mirror was broken, and the window blind had visible dirt spots when unrolled. Cobwebs were present in the bedroom, and the sofa bed was dirty and unpleasant. The listing completely failed to mention that the property sits right next to a quarry/rubbish yard, which ruined the peaceful environment promised online. We spent the first three days of our trip trying to resolve these issues. Ultimately, the property was unlivable, and we were forced to pay an additional £250 to book alternative accommodation elsewhere. The host showed zero sympathy and offered no compensation or refund for our ruined stay after charging us nearly £500. I strongly advise against booking this property.

Pretty little cottage but could do with a manual tidy and fix up - good location

The location

Local toilets next door but one - Shower door broken could not close - no hot water in the kitchen which meant you could not wash dishes properly and we felt the dishes were not clean for us

Will go back again next year

The property is perfect, we stayed for a few day but wished we stayed longer, the beach is beautiful and right out side

This little gem is in a great located, right on the beach front , the owner have thought of everything for there guests, the sea view from your bed is amazing . The restaurant , bar a few doors down is lovely owners very friendly. Gibraltar town centre is a 20 minute walk away , but there is a bus at the top for the road , so very handy if you don’t want to walk. The closest shop for your everyday shopping is on your way to the town centre, it’s called risso’daily has everything.
