Peacefulness, abounding wildlife (moose, elk, mule deer, chipmunks, long-tailed weasel and baby, all the different species of birds); the cabin had everything we needed and nothing we didn’t (seriously!).
Just know that at this elevation of 9,150’ it can be around 50 degrees each morning even in July and August, so bring some jackets. We did have them with us along with warmer clothes. On sunny days it can warm up to the 70s and possibly even 80. There are lots of blankets provided in the cabin though and you have the wonderful, large fire pit out front and a wood stove inside to enjoy from one of the couches that is next to it. So cozy! And you can watch all the wildlife outside while enjoying the wood stove inside! And, enjoy hot chocolate at the same time!

Lovely spacious property with thoughtful touches, we enjoyed all the blankets, DVDs, board games and spending time by the fire pit outside. We appreciated all the extra heaters and bedding provided, which made it a warm and cosy stay. We had all the cooking equipment and extra basic ingredients needed. Celia was helpful when we had any issues with the wifi or using the wood burning fire. The location was great for visiting local trails.
It was clear that the host was not on the property during the stay until we had some issues with WiFi, it would’ve been good to know before as the visitor guide book stated the host would be available to come help directly - thankfully we were able to make contact via messaging and solve the issues.

Celia provided fast, friendly and clear communications from the start, and throughout our pre-arrival, during our 10 night stay and afterwards, so we knew exactly what to expect. The property is spacious yet very cosy and was pleasantly warm throughout our stay despite very cold temperatures outside. Celia although away herself, was able to adjust heating temperatures to keep the apartment just the right temperature for us, we were really grateful for this. It is very well equipped with all the essentials for daily living (kitchen utensils, pots, pans, spices, condiments, a welcome basket with snack bars, tea, coffee and a bottle of wine, also soaps, towels etc), even fire wood and starters for a highly efficient wood-burning stove. It was wonderful to look out on the snowy scene and the beautiful Rocky Mountains, and to watch birds darting about, although we were sorry we didn't spot any of the meandering moose during our stay, just evidence of hoof prints in the snow! Although there are some nearby properties, they do not intrude on the privacy of the place and it is sufficiently far from the road to provide blissful peace and tranquility. A great location beyond and above Black Hawk to explore the mountains and access the ski resorts, yet easy access to Golden, Denver and Boulder, and a perfect place for a family of 4 to relax and get close to nature with a wonderful host behind the scenes whenever needed. Thank you Celia for making us feel so welcome and taking care of our needs.

The location is gorgeous as well as convenient to hiking trails. The apartment is quite comfortable and clean.
